Vertical, pitch, terrain or snowfall?

As a constant it would be steepness/pitch. As a variable it would be snow.

I love 'em all, but if I have to answer, I second what Bob said. The guy's smart and knows his skiing!

Storm skiing is my favorite whether at Blue mountain or Jackson Hole..skiing when it's dumping and the tracks are constantly being refreshed is so great. Visibility is over-rated when there's fresh Poe everywhere..mad Edgar Allen..

storm skiing is my favorite. it can be a problem in open terrain like out west but here im always in the trees so the visibility is much better.

one day while working on the gondi at stowe our boss let us go at 12 when it was dumping. we came up with the brilliant idea to hit the chin in a storm. what waist. we just ended up picking our way down till we hit tree line. it was one of the more stupid things we did while living there.

What's pitch without abundant snowfall, and what's terrain without either?

One hand clapping? Tree falling in the woods. There are some answers left best unknown.

I'm a powder slut...even have a t-shirt that says so...but I'm going to have to go with terrain. I'd rather have a skied out, bony day in Utah than a waist deep day at Lost Valley in Auburn, Maine. Terrain with a lack of fresh snow is still, and usually even more of, a challenge. Lots of snow on yawn inspiring terrain is still better than a day at the office, but it doesn't do much to challenge me or get the blood flowing.

I guess terrain .. but I think of pitch and vertical as part of terrain. I put terrain over snowfall assuming there is enough natural snow to ski the type of terrain I like.

If we're talking about getting "Snowfall", every day, then I'd certainly pick it, if not...I vote for terrain, as it doesn't matter how steep or long it is, if it's wide, flat and groomed, it gets boring quickly.

How about in an order:

1) Abundant natural snowfall

2) Interesting terrain (e.g. New England style trails, glades, etc.)

3) Lots of vertical

4) Steep overall pitch (Least of may favorite)

we take what the mtn gives so ultimately it comes down to snow. if the snow is good then i look for the terrain-trees and bumps.

You cant make terrain or vert so I would have to go with that.

give it another ten years or so and it wont matter if it ever snows. The snow tribes will make our storms for us

You forgot one, lack of crowds first.I'll bite though.Terrain has to be first.A three foot dump does no good if it's on a bunny slope hill. You can't even make turns for crying out loud.I'll take bullet proof terrain over fluffy flats anyday.
