Buying decision... love slalom turns on steep (blue to XX black), 70% groomed, 20% ungroomed, 10% powder.
How is the Allstar in powder? Does the 5 Star hold on steep & icy... and ski powder. Thanks so much

Keep in mind that I'm probably only a low intermediate skier, so YMMV! I tried the Volkl Supersport 5 star a couple of weeks ago and really didn't like them - the conditions were icy and I couldn't stay forward on the skis, couldn't turn properly or anything like that. I tried Atomic Metron M:11 the same day in the same conditions and for me they were 1000% better, so much so that I wound up buying them. On the other hand, my brother loves the Volkls ...

I'd suggest trying them out before buying.

the five and six stars are the ultimate groomer skis. they punish you if you don't have good technique, but they rip up the groomed, scraped, and icy slopes of the east coast like no one's business when you are in control. i definitely wouldn't recommend the six star for anything except groomed, the five star is slightly more versitle, not sure if it will be versitile for 30% off groomed but you'll have to demo to make that decision, different strokes for different folks as they say. the unlimited ac3 would be a compromise you might want to look at, but you loose some of the icy edge compared to the supersports.
