Trip Report:
Well, today was finally the day they got 10th and Smith open. I had finals at school which meant getting out at 11:15 and I was at the mountain at noon. Stayed till 4. Here's the report:
Conifer: Probably the best conditions on the summit, but I only skiied it twice because there were actually other runs off the summit for once. Beautiful PP the entire way.
10th: Pretty damn good. Skier's left just after the headwall was a bit slick, but staying to the right at that point took care of that. Other than that, pretty much PP.
Smith: It's just amazing that it's open. Not one snow gun was turned on until Tuesday night and it's already open. Not even 36 hours and they can open a trail as big as Smith. And it was good! There were a few slick spots, but easily avoidable and another great run. Polar Express was in full speed and no line.
I skied each of the 3 open runs off Minuteman (Ralphs, Challenger, Look Ma) and they all left a lot to be desired, especially the latter 2. Very thin cover and pretty much everything was scraped. The only exception was the 2nd half of Ralph's which had more LSGR, but was still thin. Hopefully now that the summit is nice they can blow some more snow over there and make it good.
I'll have another report tomorrow night.
