Resort or Ski Area: Wachusett Mountain, MA

Conditions: Powder, Packed Powder, 6" new

Trip Report:

Crowds were up today, but a great night on the mountain. All of the trails were in fantastic shape all night, especially after grooming.

Conifer: Took one run down after grooming and the trail was very fast. Got yelled at by the ski patrol, so I didn't go back down for the safety of my pass.

10th: Headwall was bumpy all night, but the whole trail was pretty powdery and FAST. Lots of places to get air and show off under the lift.

Smith: Headwall actually had bump lines before grooming, but it was very fast with a few bumps here and there after grooming. Lower was fast and smooth the whole way.

Piece: Groomed flat the whole way, so not much action compared to its sister trail.

Frannie's: About halfway down there was a natural drop-off to get air off of. At the bottom, there was a good kicker with a soft landing to play on.

Hitchcock: 2 boxes, a rail, a mound w/ kicker, and a mound w/o kicker currently occupy the trail. The boxes were okay despite icy landings. The kicker had great airtime, but got VERY icy after a while. The last mound had a big dropoff so you could get air off of that.

Look Mom: Besides the drift under the lift at the very beginning, very uninteresting.

Ralph's: Lots of places to duck into the trees on the way down. The trail was pretty good.

Overall, a great night. Both lifts had waits of about 5 mintues throughout the night, so not too bad for Wawa. I'll have another report Friday.
