By the way look at Fridays pic of the day Now I was there thursday and there was NOT that much snow on the side of the trail. Not even close. On Friday is when there conditions started getting worse. So did it snow? I Doubt it. Not to mention didnt it rain friday.

Fake Picture? I think so. Zand help me out...is it a fake?

I haven't been there in 3 weeks so I can't say for sure, but there's no way it was that nice Friday. Looks like around New Years Eve.

Makes you wonder how many other areas are doing this...

Dunno about others, but Crotched defiantly wasn't faking:

Bumped out to Wednesday now and looking at the base cam you can see why. Hope they can get things going again before the next warm-up.

Wachusett got WRECKED today. There's no snow from the mouth of Conifer all the way to the lift, so you'd have to walk just to get to it if they were open. Hitchcock's cover is about 10' wide. Challenger and Ralph's are laden with huge bare spots that make them all but unskiable. For all 3 trails, they lose all their snow right at the bottom and there's no way to Minuteman besides walking through mud and likely very deep puddles. ALL of the snow between Polar and Minuteman is gone. It's almost like they're starting over again. I've never seen it looking so bad in January. Usually by now all the major trails are open and the park is being set up. I used to call it a bad year when they were stuggling to make the park by now (like last year) but now they're stuggling to keep the lifts open and have temporarily lost that battle.

Temps are already down to 30 at the summit and Wachusett is notorious for starting up the guns before its really even cold enough, so I wouldn't be surprised to see them blowing already. I'll have a report Thursday afternoon as I'll be heading up there after a half day at school and then Friday I start ski club with my school.

Wachusett reopened this morning with just Challenger, Indian Summer, and Ollie's. Conifer, Ralph's and maybe Look Mom should be back by tomorrow. Don't look for trail expansion though as they're just trying to get these 6 to stay open to the weekend. Look for major expansion during next week's blast.

I'd hope they'd be blasting snow all to hell right now.

They have been since about 6 PM last night and intend to through Friday morning. I'll be up there noon-5 PM tomorrow sampling the artifical powder before the rain this weekend screws up everything again.
