Area skied: Wachusett Mountain, Massachusetts
Date skied: December 2nd from 5:30pm - 7:45pm
Surface conditions: Machine groomed, limited packed powder
Weather: Clear with 32F at the base and 20's at the summit at 5:30pm
Warren decided that he wanted to ski again after last night at Ski Ward so we made the trip up to Wachusett Mountain this evening. Hearing that snow had been made last night on Ralph's Run we made our way down that trail as a warm up. The run had some decent amounts of packed powder and even soom groomed leftovers on the trail edges.
Grooming was ongoing on 10th Mountain so we made our way up to the summit and scored first tracks on the groomed granular snow surface which made for some great turns. The snow cats moved on to Connifer Connection while we took three more runs down 10th mountain.
Connifer Connection was great with the best snow surface that I have yet skied this year. I was first down after patrol dropped the rope. Warren and several snowboarders where hot on my tail for the first few hundred feet until I slowed down to make some nice linked turns in the groomed snow.
We skied Challenger before leaving and it was not great with icy patches and granular snow, unlike visits past when it was the trail of the day.
