I am looking to head up tot the Mad River Valley next weekend and was wondering if anyone had any reviews of the Wait Farm Motor Inn. I have stayed at the Golden Lion in the past but they have no rooms with two beds left for that weekend. I was wondering if anyone has stayed there for can recommend other "value" lodging.

Do you mean Feb 8th and 9th? I do have a room with 2 doubles for the 1st and 2nd as well as our queen + double futon room. We're almost full for that next weekend, though.

Re: the Wait Farm Motor Inn, I think it's a decent place and one of the good budget options in the MRV. I'd probably count it as our top competition, except they don't serve breakfast. ;)

(Oh, and WF Motor Inn is for sale if there's anyone looking to make a full-time move to the MRV and wondering what they'll do for work when they get here. Given its location in Waitsfield, you could have some other business possibilities as well and it's well-placed for foliage business.)

I did mean the 8th and 9th sorry I am getting ahead of myself. Yeah no breakfast and also no hot tub.

I also have stayed at the Slide Brook Lodge (formerly Peppers) on German Flats Road. Nothing fancy but they have decent, affordable rooms. They have a hot tub & a bar/tavern. Depending on the size of your group, that might be a good option.

That can be the first thing you do when you buy the place. Put in a hot tub. ;)

How about the Sugar Lodge? They are a little more expensive than us, but not really high end. It's a good location and they do have a hot tub. The have a continental breakfast and a nice lobby/lounge area.

Sugar Lodge is definitely one I'd recommend. Clean, friendly people, nice common room. Didn't have a chance to use the hot tub, but they do have one. Very close to Sugarbush.

Many great responses to this thread and I agree with most all that has been said. There are many great options in the Mad River Valley and they can all be accessed via www.madrivervalley.com or via Mad River Glen's Lodging page at http://www.madriverglen.com/?Page=lodging_guide.php
Other great places to consider would be The Weathertop Mountain Inn (great location, nice folks, and wonderful food (breakfasts and dinners from what I understand), The Millbrook Inn (rustic inn with lots of charm and great restaurant too) Inn at the Mad River Barn (classic Mad River Valley ski lodge experience).
