I'm glad that White Peaks is getting replaced, as it's definitely showing its age. I do wish they would have done the village to Green Peak gondola first though. That project would be a massive game changer for the resort.

Yes, but it also adds terrain at much lower elevations than they currently operate from. That means snowmaking, and a lot of it. While it will be a gamechanger for sure, it is a huge undertaking. I think modernizing the current ski experience first is a must, especially with the pressure Loon looks to be adding in that department.

I have skied the trees on the either side of Bobby’s and the ones over by tyler too. Not sure where any others are. No other on map ones.

I see where you're coming from there. It wouldn't be necessary though to build out all the runs at the same time as gondola construction though. The benefits to the village and resort as a whole could largely be realized even with downloading on the gondola. Much like at Silver in Idaho.

Yeah you’re right that this is a response to Loon.

IMHO Waterville has a long way to go to keep up with the Joneses if indeed the Joneses are Loon. Not only is Lincoln a superior destination town than Campton/Waterville but unless they expand over to Mount Tecumseh, the mountain is just not comparable. Waterville has Ragged and Gunstock terrain but gets Loon crowds. No amount of new lifts will fix that.

It may be about the same age as Bolton Valley, (edit: they both are 1966-1967) but I seem to think that WV was in the late 1960's (just read it was 1966-1967). It certainly has a compact footprint and a nice village area, but it is all pretty young compared to a lot of other resorts.

Bretton Woods in the early 70s was the last major resort as far as I know. But you're right not too many major players added after the mid 60s. Loon opened 66-67 as well.

YES. I knew I must have forgotten one. BW was like 1971 so it is newer. That is another resort that we don't hear much about in here. I remember skiing there in the early and mid 1990's before it grew into what it is now. I went back in 2011 and did not recognize a lot of it.

And that is interesting that Loon AND WV are the same age. What completely different trajectories--especially the last 25 years or so.

Tower footings have been staked out and forms will get built and foundations poured this year.
