Well, according to Whaleback's page and their calendar, it looks like the last Sunday of June and July they are hosting MRG style "volunteer days" to clear brush and undergrowth from the trails in exchange for two (2) free day tickets. Meeting time each day is 1pm on the deck of the lodge. Not a bad way to help a small hill and come back for a visit!

Might be interested. Haven't skied Whale back since High School. It's a bit of a drive though, so I'd really have to have nothing going on that day.

I'm kind of surprised they're doing this in June and July. Seems to me it would make more sense to do it in September and October.

I did it last year. Was hard work, but fun.

Good for them.. it's a fun place with fresh snow. IMO Whaleback's glades and natural terrain are superior to Sunapee and Pat's. The late in the day opening and sparse crowds allow for late afternoon and early evening powder too.

I was worried, but the Whale seems to be surviving OK. There's lots of activity there when I drive by...all year round. I'm sure it has been a struggle, but hell, they are open.
