Wow! Lots of cool places I never had heard of and lots of new members posting in here. Welcome to both!!!

Maybe we should have an 'AZ Small Hills' Day. Any nominations?

Define "Small Hills" day.

How about a place that is about 1,000 vert or less? Not a destination resort. Local place. Maybe Black Mountain, NH, Pats Peak, etc, etc

No, what do you mean by Small Hills day, is it a day where you get a bunch of people together and go to a small hill. If that's the case, I would recommend Plattekill on a weekday. Last I checked, you could rent the whole mountain for $2000!

The only one that I can think of is the Valinouet in Quebec. It is a small hill in the middle of nowhere which get about 20 feet of snow a year and since it is too cold to have any melting during the winter, there is no ice. They do not bother making snow either.

Hell yeah!

Valinouet is absolutely fantastic.

Really, really friendly people too.

Mt.Bohemia located in the upper penninsula of Michigan. Lots of powder and tree skiing. Extreamly tuff skiing. Best in the midwest!

A couple of small and definitely funky places I've skied over the years include Camp Arrowhead in Marlboro, NJ-a YMCA camp that in the late 60's-early 70's ran a rope tow through the woods that allowed skiing on what I'd guess was a 200' vertical, 1-trail hill. Also Craigmere Ski Area in Rockaway, NJ-one old chair, maybe 4 trails, probably 300' vertical. Almost identical was Big Boulder Ski Area in the Poconos of PA.

My favorite small place though has to be Brodie Mountain in the Berkshires. Not as small as the others on my list, but lived up to it's description as "the biggest bar with a ski area attached to it". :)

Definitely King Ridge...I spent many a weekend day there as a kid. Lift tickets were about six bucks! I also love King Pine. My ski house was about 15 minutes from there, and the beer was cheap at the bar. The ski house, like the six buck ticket, is long gone now. And I want a house in Jackson, too!
