What's with Peak Resort owned Ski Resort Lifts closed at 3:30 pm?

A 3:30 close does not seem that big of a deal, particularly this time of year, I believe Attitash kept the lifts spinning later during those warm days at the end of March this past year.

That said, Peaks seems to have a PR fiasco on their hands and plenty of negative perception out there. The scarce open terrain at both MWV mountains at the end of December is strange. An inspection of a critial piece of equipment in mid October appears to be very late in the season for inspecting and discovering something like that. The Wildcat pipe?, all this would seem to be preventable.

I really don't care about the 3:30 closing. The scarcity of terrain is very typical for them, but is just especially evident this year since their peers are so egregiously outpacing them. This all results from a stagnant lack of investment.

Today we finally heard that Wildcat plans to move on to Upper Polecat next week, probably late in the week. I don't know whether this means the problem is fixed or they have a kludge and need some PR spin.

Looks like Peak Resorts used the weather as an excuse to close Attitash and Wildcat today, when most other mountains chose to open, including all the other mountains in the Mt Washington Valley. I can understand this call midweek, but not on the weekend when the weather was mostly just light rain.

Mount Snow switched back to 4PM this weekend. The 3:30 is just an early season, it gets dark early at this time of year adjustment

Apparently it's not an early season adjustment at Attitash and Wildcat. Both Wildcat and Attitash are only spinning their lifts tomorrow until 3:30 during a holiday week.

I could see some people really getting pissed off at Attitash especially. 4PM has been a customary close time at major ski resorts for at least my entire lifetime and it probably was the case long before I hopped on skis. I could see someone not paying attention and skiing back to either the Attitash or Bear base just after 3:30 to find the lift closed and realizing they're parked at the other base area.

My other thought is that if they're going to shorten the day, then they should be bumping the afternoon half day ticket start time back to 11:30 from noon.
