Hi all,

Did a search but did not find anything pertaining to this topic.

Being relatively new to skiing, I was curious when most folks home resort opens for the season?

My new home is Blue mountain so I'm guessing It's early December (please please be really early!)

Also guess the jones will be to much to ignore and will be going up to one of the southern Vt areas around thanksgiving....

Anyway, just summer fodder for thought
TIA

Blue opened November 28th last season..but early December is realistic..the latest they opened was December 26th in 2001..but I usually start my ski season a few weeks before Thanksgiving somewhere up north..

a handful will battle it out for earliest weekend in November, sometimes even October. Most major areas shoot for Thanksgiving these days. A lot of the lower second tier areas these days seem to be holding off into early December.

Ragged Mountain will be my home mountain this season. I don't believe they typically open until the second weekend of December. The past few seasons I've gotten in my November skiing at Sunday River, Sugarloaf and Waterville through vouchers from seeing the Warren Miller movie.

Sundown - late November - mid-December. It obviously depends. It seems we usually get a one foot snow storm around mid-December.

Weather permitting, SB has sort of set an unofficial tradition of trying to open the weekend before Thanksgiving, which this year would be Nov. 21st.

The November opening at Blue was the start to a great season. I loved the golf ball sized ice
chunks on Main St.

Nothing beats hitting the bar at 10:30 am!

Seriouslly, I'm shooting for Black Friday to be my opening day...somewhere.

Mountain Creek usually opens around the middle of Dec with limited trails (usually just the greens on South), with the rest of the mountain opening closer to New Years.

That's why this year I hope to learn to telemark, to give me something to do in the month of Dec.

the scene of you(?)shredding IKEA terrain was friggin hilareous

was that toll road up at stowe?

No it was Great Northern at Killington..connecting from the Glades area to Snowdon..and I prefer Best Western couches for jibbing..$99 a night suite for 3 people..including breakfast..one thing good about early season is great lodging deals and lift tickets are usually cheaper..Killington was a bargain opening day at $65..:spin:
