BW must never have lines at all if things move quicker than Cannon. I would consider Cannon to be one of the fastest line movers in New England for a mountain over 2k (which BW is not but just for comparison perspective here). That is... when there actually are lines at Cannon.

Good answer. I haven't been to Cannon in a couple of years. When I was skiing with a bunch (of kids and others), BW moved the crowds a bit better. It's possible that my perspective is skewed. I'm always cold at Cannon, so perhaps it just feels longer.

(FWIW, that's a Cannon chair below.)

Mmmm... so perhaps the question should be... How good is BW in spreading the skiers over the slopes of the mountain?

Today at Jay, lift line is not really a problem at all. But herds of skiers/rider cluster together making for a zoo like atmosphere on some of the trails (mainly the blue arteries). Many of whom were barely in control. Given the woods were kind of rough (hard pack with occasional rocks), that left a bit less terrain than I'd prefer. (the black groomers went polar: some nice & fast, others horribly icy sheets interrupted frequently by big rocks poking up!) :(

I've never been to BW. Curious what I'll find in terms of terrain. (got a freebee ticket, going for the 1st time)

It's groomers heaven. Mostly greens and intermediates. The blacks are not as challenging as Cannon, Bush or Stowe for example: They have comparable pitch, but only for a short distance, then they get lower-blue pretty quickly. Great for GS crusing .

Crowds spread out well. You have to remember, it's low-stress skiing; it doesn't attract the testosterone-heavy crowd. The customers are much more laid back, take their times, enjoy life, take a lot of breaks. You'll never see a "feeding frenzy". Last sunday, I swear there were more people in the lodge than on the slopes. It just doesn't bunch up. They have, I thinkk they claim, 100 trails, and it sure seems that way - they are spread out pretty far, not a bunch of highways all next to each other.

When I said "lifts are not a problem", I can never remember waiting in a line. That's my metric of saying most of the handful of people in "line" had also just arrived and we just had to wait for them to get their acts together and go.

BTW, by the time we left, Bode's ungroomed side was pretty well beaten down. The other side was super packed. I'd bet with the drizzle Friday, it will be f-a-s-t.

Thanks for the BW skinnies. I'm looking forward to it. After today at Jay dodging trees and rocks (a bit over my head), I can use a low stress cruising day for a change. :)

Skied Hidden Valley tonight. Will ski Hidden Valley or Mt. Peter with my son tomorrow morning and probably a night session at, you guessed it, Hidden Valley on Monday night, maybe Tuesday night too.

I'm blonde. This forum has a lot of subjects and a lot of threads. I posted somewhere tonight about how well BW moves the crowd and someone asked how it compares to Cannon. You've addressed all the issues very nicely.
