So I'm a cheapskate. Well, kind of. I'm poor, so I don't want to waste $$$ on taxes or driving too far.

In the past, I have bought my pass at the closest place. In 2000, Killington and ASC did not charge the sales tax and now they do. That adds about $22 onto the price and if I can avoid spending that, it will help. The original plan was to get it at K-Mart because it is close, but I do spend time in the Whites hiking and may be up near Attitash and Sunday River, so that would save me the taxes.

Does it really matter where I get my ASC All East Student Pass? Other than the logo on the pass?

Am I just trying to get folks talking because it's raining out?

I got mine from Attitash to save on the taxes. One thing I've read is that ff Killington is sold, the pass may no longer be honored there. Me, I'll take my chances to save on the tax, which in my case came out to $48 for me and V.

I'm getting mine from Attitash to save on the taxes. There's no need to travel to get your pass. Just upload a picture of yourself and they'll mail it to you. I got that advice from others here on AZ (I think Andyzee was one of the people who suggested this) in order to save the travel hassle. Attitash told me that when you buy it online and agree to all the terms and conditions (and waivers) and tell them you want them to mail you the pass, they'll send you a link that allows you to upload your picture.

I personally think that the logo you have on your pass is irrelevant as to whether the pass would be honored if Killington is sold. Who cares about the stupid logo? If you bought the pass, you paid for the right to go to all of the ASC East Resorts period. Why does the logo have anything to do with that? Unless the fine print links the logo to your rights to access certain resorts, it should have no bearing. Just my personal perspective.

I know someone here mentioned that if you paid the VT taxes and have the K-Mart logo then the VT Atty General is more likely to go to bat for you to ensure that the new owners of Killington will honor the pass. The $22 you paid in sales taxes makes that much of a difference? Give me a break.

When Sugarbush was sold, I don't believe they only offered Sugarbush passes to those that had Sugarbush logos on their ASC passes. That would be form over substance, folks.

That is a good point about ordering online, but I believe that as a student I would need to go in person with student ID and verification forms in order to get the pass. Can anyone confirm?

Call a season pass office and ask. The Kmart one is 802 422-6868. I'd expect that they would want you to do it in person because of all the fraud that happens with college passes.

My sister is in school, TB is right on this one she had to do this..

the student must present an original signed letter from the Registrar, embossed with the school seal, stating full-time status for the 2006 / 2007 school year, AND a valid picture identification. STUDENT ID ALONE IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. No Passes will be Issued Without these Forms of ID.

You might want to double check if ASC is required to collect taxes from a VT resident even if the pass is sold in another state. I know sometimes I'll order products from a company in Kentucky and they charge me MA sales tax because they have operations in MA

I Got my pass from Sunday River to save the tax and they said I could pick it up at any of the ASC resorts. I asked if they could mail it if I uploded a photo but since its my first pass from ASC I would have to go in person.

Well, one of the reasons I ask is that *I think* that the ASC used to give benefits for All For One Passholders and that the benefits were good only at the home resort.

No you don't, Dave. They can email you the waiver; you sign it , then mail it in. They start mailing their passes on October 8th, so they told me.

....PM me and I'll email you the waiver.

I allready got my pass in the mail a week ago from Sunday River. But this is the third year that I have had it. The first year, I had to pick it up at the mountain and have my picture taken. I don't know if that has changed on first time purchases or not.

I can't believe no one had said this yet.

The only one you can buy at Sugarbush.

Been there. Done that discussion. That was back in March/April, dude. Decisions were made. When you're engaged and one of you is in school and the other is in the working world, you'll understand.
