Mount Snow:

"Ok, here’s the scoop as promised. It was a close call since the snowmaking temperatures were marginal, but we waited as long as they could before making a decision just in case the weather took a turn for the colder. However, after the last snowmaking/stock piling effort, our snowmakers are a bit hesitant to blow snow only to see it melt away again. It’s just not good for morale. So based on our current weather forecast, we probably won’t be firing up the guns this week."

I don't blame em'. Weather looks good until the end of the week. Temps in the 40's at night and a chance of r__n. I'd imagine it's pretty frustrating to make thousands of $ worth of snow and have it all gone in two days.

Thanks for the update Geoff.

I wonder how long it will take for them to get back online with the snowmaking all the way to the base?

Lower Bunny Buster is going to be the problem. It's humid so the snowmaking at 2500 feet isn't going to be very efficient. I figure they'll open on Friday... which was their scheduled opening day. They could open earlier but there won't be many people around to ski it. I have no problem waiting the extra day or two. The base depths were pretty good when they opened 2 sundays ago. It couldn't stand up to the fog and downpours of Thursday through Saturday. I imagine they'll want to pile up a thaw-proof base on lower Bunny. Once you get brown spots, it melts really fast.

30-35 guns on Upper Jet/Upper Haynes tonight. Temps, if not conditions, are good through Weds night, then again over the weekend (and, from the look of things, stay pretty good the rest of the month).

I don't think I've ever said anything bad about Killington. Granted, I've only been here a month and a half...but still.

I hear ya, it seems like K gets unfair treatment on this board. I did not mean to lump you into that category.

Killington gets unfair treatment on every public forum. You're always going to get the "I'll never ski that zoo again" people and the "Northern Vermont is better" people. Most of us long-timers have a love-hate relationship with the place.
