Let's all pool our Powerball lotto tickets....

....and when we win I call I get to be the "Stein Erickson-like" on hill ambassador...and lead the 1am conga lines at the lodge parties.

Wow  I knew that Maple Valley had been on the market for some time, but that lodge is sweet. Nice place. The trail layout is interesting. Needs some work, but doable.

Us Ski-aholics only see half of what it takes to run a resort...and in VERMONT where the property taxes are high. I'm sure Bob R can shed some more light on the frustrations of being in the ski industry. It is not as fun as just skiing. If anything, skiing has gone the way of agriculture--lots of $$$ to invest, pray for weather, and maybe small profit. (Kind of like we say about other people's kids or pets...great to play with, cute, but the best part is you GO HOME without them  ).

Hey Greg, maybe we could open this as the Alpinezone resort instead of Sugarbush!

P.S.

Actually know a guy who tried to get a group together for a private club type of thing.

After analysis, it was apparently clear that, like racing thoroughbreds (with the exception of a few major players), you'd better be doing it for the love and not the money, because the moment you signed on the dotted line you'd be getting a lot of the former, and giving much more of the latter...

Somewhere in a post before this was mentioned, and some guy tried to trade his 2.5 Mil yacht straight up for Maple Valley but was rejected.

The tree and trail potential on the left lift do look stellar, and I guess it's truly steep.

You guys scrape up the $3M to get this thing going, and I'll gladly lease the AZ brand... ;)

What's the vertical here?

Hey, if every registered user of AZ coughed up $2,000, there's be enough to buy it, and cover the $300-$500K they say is needed to open. Get 2000 people in at $2,000, and you'd have enough cash to buy, open, and pay a season's worth of operations. Probably.

I saw this in the fall I think.... I lost my job in a ski resort maketing position 3 days before my wedding. I know the industry can be fragile. Just a thought some like it , but I like being a patron know more than I liked working at a resort. Never got any seperation between work and pleasure. Skiing became a job. My narrow perspective.

...and the share sales have been slower in recent years. They are doing a great job, though, and have been superb custodians of that special place...

You would also need a few Million in the bank after you opened just to keep it open.

Okay, smootharc and ALLSKIING are on the official "Buzzkill List" ;)
You could make a case for it being a good inestment, but it'd be tough to do it realisticaly. Otherwise, someone would have done it already.
