From Jay's home page:

"We plan on being open through April and possibly into early May."

I was at Sugarbush last Monday and Wednesday. Not much open then and even less now. Stein's Run still had good coverage (not that I did it mind you).

Yeah it makes sense. To bad, I think a few runs off Lift 7 & will have a solid base of snow for another few weeks

I was at Sugarbush last Monday and Wednesday. Not much open then and even less now. Stein's Run still had good coverage (not that I did it mind you).

I was there on Friday and Saturday and agree with the assessment. The conditions are what they were the last weekend of April 2008 and maybe the second to last weekend of April 2009. North Lynx, Castlerock, and Gatehouse are done. We lost a lot of snow on Friday and Friday night. Ripcord was delicious but there are some bare spots beginning to form. Once bare ground is exposed, the ground warms and the snow melts from underneath. Heaven's Gate is offering Ripcord, a deep Spillsville and Organgrinder, and Jester. Paradise is done.

Bravo is dishing out some good terrain (Lower OG, Birdland, Murphy's). Though Spring Fling has lots of snow, Snowball is pretty thin and has some bare spots. Too bad Spring Fling Triple is no more. Twist and Moonshine are gone. Mall is gone or not far behind.

Stein's is VERY deep and nice. Coffee Run is as well. So still some options, but if it warms up too much things will go fast.

There have been hints that they know that making it to May will be very difficult. I am skiing on Saturday and part of Sunday. Getting it in while I can. I suggest folks do the same.

On topic, SB is for sure for 4/10-4/11 and depending on the weather will have at least Stein's for 4/17-4/18.

Corn cycle is in effect this weekend. Not going to be a slush fest like last weekend. But the damage is done for the most part. Next weekend will be tricky. I bet killington is a good bet if you don't want to make the hike way up north. Mount snow rocked until April vacation last year. Not the case this year.

Wow, I have three remaining vouchers and I am trying to figure out what to do. After reading reports from today, I will be making plans for this weekend with the assumption that Killington will be the only area in VT open next weekend. Loaf will have the most snow and last the longest but who will turn the lifts until it is gone? If I was planning for next weekend, I would make plans for either K or Loaf depending upon your location and driving preferences. What a horrible way to end things with so many places closing down early. Even Bush (down to only one trail that is not groomed!) is hedging its bets and suggesting that people 'get it out of their system' this weekend.

Of course, adding insult to injury, higher summits will see a very little bit of snow over night, freeze up the snow pack, and make Saturday not great for spring skiing (holding out hope for the afternoon, though!). Too little too late on the cold weather right when it is already too late so we might as well enjoy what is left...

My sources tell me that Sugarbush is 50/50 for next weekend. And BTW there are actually 5 trails open (two routes) and one is groomed.
