Depends which of us looney tunes determines that there is enough snow for sliding. Depending on consistency of snow, I've gone out in October before for only four inches and it was worth it. Not so crazy as Austin to be hiking the auto road though. I'm guessing I'll be third or so on this forum with Austin beating me to the punch by a tad. Then again, I have the proximity to make a short punch worth while after work during the week, so mid-week I might be able to nail it. kbroderick has the same advantage and usually pops on around the first snow. Snoseek kinda has an advantage in that they open the lifts in CO in his neck of the woods.

Only counting east coast since living out west is just plain unfair.

My guess is that kbroderick will get it since he will ski on next to nothing and lives right there. With Riverc0il and I in second and third position. Riverc0il will probably beat me out though since I'm booked with mountain biking a bunch of the upcoming weekends and I have no days off during the week. Guess it depends on what we get. Unlike Riverc0il I'm not willing to drive and hike up a ski area for 4 inches of snow, but if the upper 2,000 ft of Mt. Washington is covered with snow and there is a nice day coming up I'll definitely go for it.

I hope to be the among early group to do lift serviced turns in the east. Hard for me to get out mid week if we get an early storm. If there is snow on a weekend, I would take the pack out. I hope Terry will carry the beer. This would be a fun contest to just finish in the top ten.

My guess would be Austin or Riv.

Last friday morning we talked about grabbibg our rock skis and making some turns...we had enough snow off Bravo that we had to cancel mountain biking. The lift ran all day for hikers so making some turns would have been lift served. We decided it would be lame.

It wouldn't have been for first tracks anyway, no doubt in my mind people skied all over northern New England/Daks last friday, it would have been just for fun. Was told someone came off the chair with a plastic bag with snow. People need to get a grip....

If skiing is Chile is so great how come the Chile Ski team, if there is one, never races in the World Cup or the Olympics.

Minnesota and Michigan seem to turn out a fair number of strong racers from those little nothing hills. There's obviously little correlation with the quality of the skiing and producting of racing talent.

Obviously, my post was tongue-in-cheek but with the quality of sking in Chile at such a top level I am curious why they don't do ski racing. I wonder if the top college ski teams have some racers from south of the Equator.
