Why do we love to ski? ?
I love to ski because:
1. I love being in the fresh, cool crisp air.
2. I love the feeling of freedom.
3. I love the views from the mountain tops.
4. I love the speed.
5. ...and finally. I have only 2 seasons...WINTER and ALLERGY.

For me, it's:
  1. The love of mountains and the scenery
  2. The challenge and the desire to improve, especially moguls
  3. The exercise and sense of accomplish. I'm the most tired after a full day of skiing. Put a beer or glass of merlot in my hand after a hot shower and I'm a happy man! ;)
  4. Enjoying the winter weather
  5. The comraderie of skiing with others or the peacefulness of skiing solo
  6. The escape from the every day stress of life
  7. The anticipation of one day sharing skiing experiences with my daughter

Agree with all of the above - speed, views, winter exercise, fresh air, apres-ski parties, hanging with freinds and family - what's not to like?

How about one more wonderful thing about skiing - is there anything (that you can do with your clothes on) that feels better than taking your ski boots off after a full day on the slopes?????

Been a long time since I posted. Really nothing I can add to what's already been said. The mountain views, the fresh air, the feeling of floating down the mountain, the exercise... And for someone new to skiing it's a heck of a challenge. It's made winter something I look forward to rather than something to endure.

Why I like to ski

It is a time that my wife and I can spend together and enjoy each others company. She is my ski buddy. But I also like to ski alone sometimes to just go and do whatever you want and wherever that you want to. I took up skiing just six years ago, and didn't know what I was missing. I am trying to make up for lost time. The last three years I have averaged 60 days a year, and would have liked to do more but alas, I have to work to pay the bills. that sucks. SKIING ROCKS!!!!

1. The challenge of driving to the mountain after or during a snowstorm is the first part of the excitement of skiing for me.
2. The test to see how much the human body can endure (weather wise). So far 21 below zero was the coldest I have skied.
3. The exercise. I blade so I incorporate the skating and can make my ski day especially on flatlands a mini workout.
4. The crisp air and scenery.

I love to ski because:

1) I love snow, more than anything else, skiing has enabled me to be around the stuff year round. Having skied all 12 months, I get more of a thrill our of just being in contact with the snow than skiing on it sometimes.

2) I love the cold, last January at Sugarloaf in -20F + was a nice experience
in seeing how much one can tolerate the cold.

3) Being on top of a mountain makes you on top of the world and somewhat isolated from the pressure of the world below.

It's not in jest, the colder it is the happier I feel. I was going out in -10F +
weather at Sugarloaf to get firewood with just a shirt on, no coat. Gardening is my pasionate hobby, but I suffer from alergies, and the first frost and cold is a welcome relief. The intense cold coupled with deep snow, gives the world a sterile look, it also makes you wonder how living things can survive, but somehow everything comes back to life in the spring.
