bvibert, you're so shallow  I was expecting a philosophical statement from you "I transcend to another time and space where I can be at unity with the pinecones...
" :daffy:

I try not to achieve unity with the pinecones since they're usually in front of the tree trunk. Achieving unity with the tree trunk can hurt!

This is a great question. I have yet to answer it. Seriously. Huge time and financial investment, I could be communing with nature in other cheaper and easier ways. Why do we do anything we do? It is a pursuit of what we enjoy, a pursuit of something that makes us happier and more satisfied. There is no practical thought out reason. At some point in our lives, someone said "let's going skiing." And we went. Then we did it again. And we enjoyed it and kept at it. No different than why we do anything in our lives. Nothing philosophical about it... skiing releases a chemical into my system that is addictive and enjoyable so I keep at it.

Could be cheaper if you didn't buy skis like a drunken sailor buys lap dances....

Prior to providing my answer, I snowboard. The only skis I would touch are my girlfriends when bringing them to the lodge... that said.

I look forward to finding the perfect line. I look forward to having a perfect run. The question is what is the perfect line or run... each person has their own answer, but mine is probably never going to be perfect since I always pursuit something greater...

For years I dreaded winter coming .. The less snow the better was my motto then. Now I eagerly wait for each snowstorm. Winter used to draw on for an eternity now it is gone before I know it. It has become my least to my most favorite season. I am sorry I waited so long but glad I started snowboarding when I did.
Substitute skiing for snowboarding and you have my answer...

Marc, just do yourself a favor, and don't try buying any skis while you are drunk and getting a lap dance, okay? That never works out very well.

Sounds like that's coming from personal experience, were you ever a sailor?

To answer this question seriously; I ski because I enjoy it. I enjoy challenging myself to get better and try harder terrain. I don't know why I enjoy it so much, never really stopped to think about it, I just do.
