Wow. Pulling up that pic in a high res version really shows how impressive Big George must look from WC (never been). Is it as "in your face" as that pic depicts, or moreso? Great pic, Austin.

I'd love it, too ...

You can use yousendit.com - upload it and it will provide you with a link for downloading. No limit on size, but it only stays up for a few days.

I'd love to "borrow" your photo if it's not a problem.

Thanks!
Ann

yeah, it IS in your face. It is pretty breathtaking actually, you feel right on top of it. I have never been to the rockies, but I bet the views are something like that.

Its kinda hard to explain how much "in your face" it is. Heres my attempt. Wildcat isnt that close to mt. washington compared to most notchs. Pinkham Notch is an extremely wide notch compared to most in the north east. But mt. washington is one huge mountain, way bigger than anything else around here(not just in height, but in its massive width and has multiple peaks) So it is kind of far away, but it is so large that it still does take up the whole view. I think how it looks in the pic is pretty accurate to how it looks when your on the mountain. Maybe someone like Steve may give a better explanation, hes better with words then I am.

Swiss Chalet is a nice little place. I can practically spit there from my place.

Going back to some of the earlier posts about the in-your-face views and the panoramas. This was taken by a local photographer. His shop is located across the street from Adventure Suites on rte.16, right where they're doing all the construction. This was taken from the little island on Polecat. Great views from Gulf of Slides all the way out to Adams.

Wow, breathtaking photos, Austin.

As for image hosting, I use Zoto.com and find it to be easy to use, simple layout, and versatile. It gives many different image sizes automatically as well as the orginal, all linkable, and I've never had a problem with hotlinking in terms of traffic or anything else.

Damnit! It's been since Sunday since I've been on skis and even now that has been too long.

Without doubt the best views in the East. I was at Wildcat on a similar bluebird day last spring. It was my first time there and terrain was limited, but the bumps were sweet, the snow excellent, and that view of the rockpile was worth the ride up anyway.

Felt like I could reach out and touch it.
