That was the noon news at Wildcat today... season going to 4/22 weather permitting.

Not a mystery anymore!

Thats awesome that they made the comitment. Its to bad to see ski areas close when they are covered in snow. I know it is a business decision but I still don't understand people that can't wait to ski in Nov on 1 icy trail, but call it quits in march when the skiing is the best of the season. If I was healthy, I would be out there till the last lift turned, and beyond!

this is killing me.......

I was just thinking back a bit to some old plans we had before my injury. I have 2 weeks of paternity I was going to take this week and next. We were going to PA for Easter and would have returned this past Monday. We probably would've headed up to our place in Intervale on Tuesday or Wednesday. That would have given me Thursday, today, and the weekend to ski - and the conditions are sick right now. Not to mention the possibility of getting stuck up there with this huge storm that's blowing in on Sunday. Talk about a bad time to hurt yourself..........

We WILL be getting up there next weekend, the weekend of the Inferno, so if you see someone hobbling around North Conway in a leg brace pushing a stroller, say hey....and rip some turns for me - I'd appreciate it! :)

Jim G...

do you really think there are tracks left at Three Little Pigs from your visit LAST WEEK ?? 15" of new pow on the ground this morning and for a brief shining few hours EVERYTHING was legit open, all 47 trails and any stash you could imagine, find or create.

When a little gust would eddy through the trees, it was like snow guns going off. POOF, REFRESH !

End of the day, one orange rope ... Hairball bit the dust, the rocks are too big and the settling snow proved just a little short when the temp topped out at 40 around 2 PM.

The entire Gondi Line was skiing top to bottom, places that never saw a manmade flake all season were open and skiing in velvet.

Lest ANYONE ELSE think it was all for the Steep and Deep crowd, the Green trail- Wild Kitten- accesible from the Bobcat lift---which has been much UNLOVED this season ( basically been Crapola since snowmaking pipe there blew past its' retirement age spectacularly in January) is now open, groomed, and officially rated G for it's intended audience for the first time this season.

There is great Green terrain open at Wildcat, too,

Who woulda thought 2 weeks ago?

Don't yet know what to make of the coming forecast, but Pinkham Notch is not a place where you listen much to forecasting anyway. Its much more exciting to <live > as the weather unfolds.

I am with you Kickstand- I haven't skied since late march. Back injury sucks. It is painfull to sit here and read about all the great conditions everywhere and can't go. But just came back from the specialist today. They said that I would be skiing next season for sure. That made me feel much better. They are going to try directly injecting steroids into the disc. If that doesn't work, then microsurgery. But they said it will be an easy fix. That made me feel better!!!

Figures the one weekend I don't go there is when everyone goes. I am planning Sugarbush tomorrow since 3 of my last 4 have been at Wildcat. Enjoy everyone!

December 16 and 17 were my last and only days on skis this winter, but the injury didn't happen until 2/26. I just looked at Austin's pics in the Trip Reports area and I feel like crying. I can't wait to see what the snow cover looks like next weekend up there.

I'm hoping to be able to ski next season. The ortho didn't make me think otherwise, but a guy I work with had the same injury, 15 months ago, and he didn't ski this winter. I don't know if that was by choice or not, but judging by his scar, his may have been worse than mine. I was told 6 months (although I'm shooting for 8) and I'm good to go. We'll see.

Good luck with the back. Hopefully the steroids work for you. Going under the knife is never pleasant, although sometime very necessary.
