No skiing in the rain for me. I ski as much for the views, fresh air, sunshine etc as for the actual activity of skiing. Skiing for me is complete experience and rain for me is not part of that package.

I suspect if you lived 25 minutes from Sundown and knew what the Temptor bumps were like right now, you would head over there in a heartbeat in pouring rain to score some soft bumps in December. Just a hunch... ;)

Indeed I would, especially if I had a pass there. Well it's probably a certainty that if I lived 25 minutes away from Sundown or any mountain for that matter, I would have a pass there. Pat's Peak is an hour and ten minutes and I'll be considering it for a pass next season for night skiing turns. At this stage in my life, that's the only way I'll ever get up around 40 days out again until I have kids and they are forced to love the sport  I figure that way the future wife can't give me crap about wanting to ski both weekend days every weekend instead of just one.

Q: Will you ski in moderate to heavy rain?

A: not a chance. that's when the bar at lodge or couch at home calls and demands to be answered.

Yes! I only go until the rain gear gives up. That is about 2 to 3 hours.

No rain at all for me. I won't even drive to the mountain if I get up and there is any precip besides snow in the air.

If it is raining at home I will still go skiing, but I will not drive to a mountain to ski in the rain all day. I will continue to ski if it starts raining, as long as I am having fun.

Hell YES. Getting wet beats getting a sunburn on a crowded slope with that lovely "primary surface of machine groomed and secondary surface of packed powder" which I'm unable to distinguish from ice...

Wet snow is most excellent.

Moderate to heavy rain?? Been there done that. Will I do it again, very likely at some point. The snow is usually very good. I just tend to take a run or 2, then go dry out/grab a new pair of goggles, and then head back out. I just have a tough time imagining the scenario where I'd do a 1st chair to last chair day on a moderate to heavy rain day though ;)

Light Rain - yes
Moderate Rain - maybe latter in the season but not yet
Heavy Rain - never

I agree with those who say that conditions in the rain can be great. I love the soft snow and the moguls can be particularly fun. Right now I can't stomach the thought of wet clothes. Have had a couple of great days after a good rain storm.

I packed raingear today, JIC. It's all about visibility for me. If I'm spending more time wiping goggles than shredding, I head for the lodge and wait n see while drying off. I always bring a second set of duds if rain is better than 50% chance.

If Sundown were open tonight, I would be there. Thanks to all you fair weather skiers for causing them to need to close. :???:
