Hey weather / wind experts. What do you think? It looks like it is going to be pretty breezy Sunday - concerned about wind holds - even on the upper T-Bar at Saddleback. I have passbook tickets left for Mt. Abram and Saddleback - Where should I go? Saddleback is a long drive to sit in the lodge... Based on my past visit to Mt. Abram, I think it would be blast there in the POW. Where would you go?

I would not think that Abram is tall enough to have wind holds...and I'd be more concerned about the roads....

Mt Abram is pretty much wind hold proof with the summit T-Bar. The double is well protected anyway.

I haven't skied Saddleback, but know it is a far superior mountain. They have quite a bit of season left to go though where as Mt. Abram wraps up end of March. I guess what I'm saying is chances are there will be days where conditions are going to be as good or better at Saddleback before the season's through where as Mt. Abram the chances are less.

Personally, if I was concerned about wind hold, I would head to Mt. Abram. Heck, I might go myself instead of Shawnee.

The Kennebago T-bar is not usually too affected by wind. Mostly it is closed for frostbite danger like it was this January when it was -29F at the summit. Alot of the upper mountain can be accessed by skiing NW Pass off the Rangeley Chair anyway.

Sunday looks windy, but not very cold with summit temperatures probably around 15-20F at Saddleback.

I am staying further south this weekend with skiing at Sunday River only.

Goood luck and good skiing wherever you go.

Yeah - It might not get any better that what it will be on Mt. Abram this weekend - and all of March will still be good at Saddleback. Good point. Interesting....

We ended up hitting [THREAD="24974"]Mt. Abram[/THREAD] and loved it. We made the right call for early in the day anyway - as I know most of Saddleback was on wind hold in the AM... as was Sunday River next door. Thanks for the advice everyone.
