Where do you see that it is longer? The racers have been running about 5 seconds quicker. In fact Ferk's time of 52.73 was only .11 seconds slower than Mikaela's first run. So I would almost think it is shorter/easier.

This second run is a lot longer. What are the rules there?


The only rules essentially about the course itself are that the gates can't be set closer than 9 meters apart down the falline. The variability is quite often in how a particular course setter sets the gates across the hill.

Of course there are other things like minimum and maximum allowable vertical drops for the course too

I never noticed that the Slalom helmets are not of a DH style. Understandable given the speeds.

Modern slalom helmets are a bit different than speed event helmets. It allows for better protection from gate impacts to the face and a more seemless integration of the now used by almost all competitors "football style" front cage
