the answer really, if you actually need walkability, is stay in burlington or montpelier. i guess maybe woodstock. manchester.

walking the killington access road doesnt sound so great!
There are parts of it that have decent walkability, and with the right number of beverages, the rest of it can seem a bit closer.

Not recommended during a serious cold snap, though.

Actually Okemo I suppose. Plus given the difficulty inflation they have plenty of single black diamond groomers. Who anywhere grooms a double black run? Oh, just apply the Okemo rating to Magic's Talisman i suppose. I saw a girl from the Okemo freestyle team have a terrible time just getting to the start line down Witch. Idiot "coach" of course.

its not vermont but lake placid may be the best 'ski town' in the east. the west really takes the cake for cool walkable small cities at the foot of great skiing. park city, aspen, telluride, breckenridge, jackson town, all dat. banff/canmore. revelstoke.

Not Vermont, but my favorite "ski town" in the east has got to be Lincoln, NH. Decent assortment of places to eat/drink and accommodations. Not sure how walkable but could be done. I enjoy the bar at Gordi's with all the old skiing posters etc

Stratton also has an interesting walking village, with a couple of restaurant/bar places to. Reminds me a little of Center Village at Copper.

But nothing beats the towns out west. Agree with the Red River comment , the mountain just hangs over the town. Gonna get there when I start spending winters out west.
