#?? When you hear "corn"...your first thought isn't vegetable.

#?? You celebrate Summer Solstice as the pending return of winter. *my favorite*

Previous posters already got my thoughts on getting upset when the temps go over 32F.

ALSO...anyone interested in backyard snowmaking should check in with Dozer. Check his avatar.

##) there's someone sleeping in your laundry room to keep the rent down

##) you've got beer, certain...errr...herbal spices, and no toilet paper

##) your driveway is overflowing with out-of-state cars that are older than any of the skis in the garage

skied every month of the year (edit: september wasn't lift served)
skied over 2,000 days
had two knee operations due to skiing
love it just as much as when i was a kid.

I also skied every month of the year by the time I was 17 (I am now 34)
I skied every month of 1997 (lift serviced) with the exception of July.
I skied Killington from October 1st 1993 to June 1st 1994.
I Heli skied in B.C
I Summer skied in Italy, Austria, Switzerland, France and Mount Hood in Oregon.

I do not consider myself a ski bum, but a snow addict with an expensive habit.:p

Can I join the club too?

That's for certain, and I am moving perilously close to enemy territory this summer:smile:

Truthfully, I am not a big baseball fan, but I do like the Yankees.

#999??x10^5 - You've been caught trying to park your car in the groomer garage so the wind doesnt steal the heat as you sleep.

#999??x10^5 + 1 - You can't resist but to clear debris from "nice slopes" while out hiking.

You spend a warm, sunny spring day sitting in a bar in Manhattan talking with two other AZer's about skiing as the waitress and others look at you with

I'd imagine that genuine ski bums don't waste their time posting on message boards, obsessing about the end of summer, or even talking about skiing for that matter.

They are probably too busy getting out there and getting after it to do any of that stuff. They don't care about the end of winter, because they just move the party to Chile or New Zealand. When I'm on a ski trip, I could care less about the topic of conversation on Ski-related message boards. I'm thinking about what a great day I had and where I'll be skiing tomorrow. I'm drinking beers in the bar, or hitting the town, or having a huge meal.

In fact, I'd venture to say that genuine ski bums probably don't talk all that much about skiing. They ski so much, I think they might like to talk about something else for a while. I claim that this does not detract from their ski-bumism, but rather is the ultimate pinnacle of ski-bumness. A higher plane, where skiing is not just a hobby and a part of a life, but is a life in and of itself.

You ski 61 days in a row at Blue mountain
You take skiing more seriously than work
You go to a particular college due to it's proximity to skiing
You move to Montana simply to ski
You post about skiing a kazillion times a day year round
You measure your lifes success with powder days
Thanksgiving means skiing
Easter means skiing
You don't understand why people use a week of vacation time to go to the beach..

I know an actual ski bum.
Last season she flew into Tahoe in the middle of one of the biggest dumps on record. No plan, no job, no where to live. Scores a small apartment by walking around town in 5 feet of snow. Scores a job at Heavenly in customer service...skis for free every day. She's 50 years old and has been doing this for a long time.
Thats a ski bum

Ski-bumness I like it.
Most of your friends are Skiers, what else is there to talk about? Ok, beer&boobs creep in.
You know the TR of a 170cm SL from the side cut.
Your not afriad to ski in Carharts.
You know about every model of ski from 20 years ago to date.
Your mind is like a Snowglobe.
You surf e-bay for gear weekly.
You know where every ski shop is for 200 miles.
And the #1 Ski-bumness is you have a room dedicated to skiing.
