Woof. Not a good day. For a Friday the trails felt packed and skied off in an hour or two. The offering off North Peak is laughable heading into Xmas break. Everyone getting funneled down Sunset with a terrain Park taking up half the width is quite the option. How hard would it be to blow on Upper WB to complete that run? At least they are working on South.

7. 12/21/24 Waterville Valley

Night and Day difference to Loon the day prior. Surprisingly not too busy. Gema and Ciao were “unofficially open” and the trails of the day. Untouched powder pockets could be found on them all day. Lapped them pretty much all day.

Agree, yesterday at loon was lousy, today at cannon was spectacular - the lightest snow you will find in NH, knee deep in spots.

Tomorrow should be day #30.

Today was my last Sunday at work thankfully. Hopefully can start getting some days in soon. Maybe I can sneak off to Mt Sunapee on Christmas morning for a few runs, under a 1.5 hrs from inlaws house.

It snowed a bit more on Friday and the conditions were very good. More trails came online. 80% open now. And as much as I'm a bit tired of skiing there the conditions have been excellent. They got another 4" Friday night wish I could have gone yesterday.

12/07 - killington (powder day!)
12/08 - stratton
12/14 - stratton
12/15 - stratton

12/22 - sugarbush (powder day!) - I’m giving it the powder day tag. 2” of fresh snow, but castlerock open for hiking on total untouched/untracked. Also the first full proper day of HG operation so just a ton of snow up high

12/23 - mt ellen - Great day! Trails beautiful chalky packed powder. Great powder to be found in the woods. And it’s gonna snow tonight!

Madbush falls is nice but there are no tvs. That’s fine but if I didn’t bring my laptop I’d be real bored

Right where I want to be
Day 8 today. Waterville was the best I have ever skied it. Over 8” on top.
Now skied 7 different ski areas this year never paying more than $50. Only used my Indy pass twice so far.
After this coming week it will be mostly Indy pass ski areas until February.

I found myself with a day to ski because previous plans fell through and I wound up at Belle again. Bitter cold. In addition to a few new fallen inches of snow the snowmaking was going off. Many huge piles of snow in many different places, some 25-30' tall. I enjoy whale skiing. Plus a few trails had some nice little bump lines.
Plenty of skiers too. Another good day.

Christmas came early! 6” of fluff skied amazing all morning. Parked at Jordan and was on one of the first handful of chairs up. Rogue Angel was blissful first run. Skied it a few more times and made my way east skiing just about everything open. Need more snow though…. After 1 everything was pretty skied out. Now back home for christmas and then back at it to Sugarloaf Thursday and Friday mainly for the charity climb and ski Thursday night.

2nd ride up Jordan:

9. 12/26/24 Sugarloaf Uphill Climb

Sugarloaf held their annual Christmas Week Uphill Climb for the SL Charity Summit. Turning into a bit of tradition for myself and the gf. The climb starts at 4:30 up Tote to Bullwinkles where the bar is open to grab a drink and warm up before skiing down Tote with just a headlamp.

More great snowmaking and some more natural snow. Good bumps on Yahoo, Mohawk t2b and Winnisook. All snowmaking trails open. Not busy Thurs, but very busy yesterday. Good skiing.

And we are again at a familiar point in time...the trees and naturals again have a decent base and prepared for a 12-18" snowfall to open everything up including trees. And we will as usual get rain. At least half the holiday period weather was good.

12/28 - bolton - spring skiing. warm. sticky snow. bolton punches above its weight class. painfully slow 1000 vertical off vista but really tasty lines and lots of them. Skis kinda like MRG. Was probably amazing on Wednesdayish

Night Skiing with family. Only 3 hours skiing but plenty of runs with the new chair. Huge improvement for the mountain. Also tons more parking in a new lot at the entrance of the access road now.

Frozen groomers. All natural snow wiped out. Still a ton open, but more natural and manmade snow needed.

Still had a fun day. As much as I'd like to get up to VT the conditions are not motivating me to go yet. Hopefully soon.

I got 6 days in December at Mountain Creek and Mt. Peter.

Skiing in December also completed my goal of skiing at least once every month in 2024. I finished outdoor skiing in April at Belleayre and skied once a month at Big Snow May through October. I started my outdoor skiing season at Belleayre in November.
