Just did 6 days at Gore (got home Saturday). Snowed a bit almost every day while I was there with one nice dump. So 23 days so far. Still taking it easy but getting some days in.

jesus. You ok man? get away from that place before you get yourself strattonized.

It’s a mile drive to the main base, two and a half to the sunbowl, and there’s a shuttle weekends and holidays. Until this rain and warmup, it been a great season, tons of natural, tons of snowmaking, and no lift outages.

Haven’t had the urge to go anywhere else, but I’m gonna start using my K days and do a few SB days.

Just a local town rope tow and slope. Never been and had some time on my way south on a night they were open. My arms were toast by the end from the tow.

After work turns before the rain. Really liking the new chair. Gets you some quick laps on a short but decent pitch with a few trails to choose from. Plus it rarely has a line compared to the other 2 lifts.

Really fun afternoon! The rain was long gone and it was warm for some soft spring like turns everywhere. Must have lapped the bumps on Hurricane almost a dozen times.

Wanted to make some turns today after the freeze. BMOM seemed to be the only place able to run all their lifts so headed there. St John and Allagash skied nice due to their sun exposure but everything else was quite firm and windblown. One of the windiest days I’ve skied. Surprised they were able to run the triple, it was quite sketchy on a few rides up.

First day back at the Loaf since Christmas break. Weather just has not been kind this season which has made me go elsewhere and save my days for the spring. I knew conditions weren’t going to be perfect but I’ve been itching to get back up there. Got front row parking at the Bucksaw trail at 8:20. Nothing like skis on right from the parking spot! Mountain was pretty quiet overall all day and conditions were tolerable with fast, firm groomers.

Widowmaker to Flume was my ROTD. Followed by Wedge and also Tote to Haywire. The naturals really took a beating from the rain. Lower Ripsaw is bare and Bracket and Burnt look pretty patchy from the lift. Although Bubblecuffer and glades off Spillway X-cut still look good for when it softens up.

I havent skied with the little one in 2 months as she's in all-day ski school on Saturdays, and life's been hectic, so I wasn't really sure how she was progressing. I knew they were taking them down intermediate terrain, but that's about it.

So imagine my surprise today when she led me into some trees. WTH are these PC ski instructors teaching 5 year olds?!?!?! Color me shocked.

They did this for my daughter at Alta and Snowbird when she was little.

Got to Belleayre on 3/8 for the first time in a month and it was good. Still a decent base in the trees which I'm sure is cooked now. Excellent bumps and great coverage.

My plan to do 3 day K trips worked out very well. The great conditions helped a lot. Got there again starting on my birthday 3/12. Wednesday and Thursday were frozen groomer days and I moved all over the resort skiing anything open. Kind of fun skiing all over. I was praying for a spring day on Friday and was richly rewarded.
Bluebird skies and intense sun with temps in the upper 40's and lower 50's after starting out in the upper 20's. Just about all the trees and nats opened up and it was a sprint to ski as much as possible. I was amazed by the great coverage and I was glad to get the good conditions.

Looking ahead to this weekend's weather I'm glad I got up there to take advantage. Warmth and rain no bueno. What are the chances of a late season coastal storm?

Another Thursday out from work early means I could get another ski afternoon in. I forget Camden isn’t too far. Got there at 1:30 and had what seemed to be the mountain to myself. Always enjoy the views of the ocean on the lift. Snow was soft but melting quick that close to the coast.

Started the day at Sunday River. Definitely busier than what I expected but not too surprising considering the nice weather. Found the best snow to be on the eastern peaks. Spending most of the time on Barker and WH lifts. Found Shockwave to be really fun along with White Heat. Lapped them quite a bit. Found everything West of Spruce just didn’t get the soft snow the East side did.
IMG_5304.jpeg

Once the lifts closed at SR I high tailed it over to Jackson, NH to partake in Black’s “Friday Night Lights” which is a weekly uphilling event they do with a party at the Alpine Cabin with a one man band playing on the deck. Very fun time! Skied down with a headlamp at 8pm and stayed at the Christmas Inn down the road.

After staying near the mountain I was on the hill by 9 and it was already softening up pretty good! Vibes were very high today around the mountain. Almost like the party atmosphere the night before just kept going through today. Skiing was excellent on what is still open. The snowmaking trails are hanging in nice, but most of the naturals have melted out with the southern exposure. Really, really like what I’ve seen from Black this year!

And now a week off as I’m en route to Iceland. Maybe just maybe there will be time for a day at Bláfjöll!
