I only listen to my IPod when I'm on the lift so that I have 100% awareness while actually skiing. But, if the run is not too hairy, no one is around and I just want to bomb down, here's my short playlist:

Butterflies and Hurricanes - Muse
Snow - Red Hot Chili Peppers
Californication - Red Hot Chili Peppers
Dangerzone - Kenny Loggins
Thunderstruck - AC/DC

I've found the Blues are the music of telemark skiing. Lately, I've been getting myself stoked on the drive to the slopes with a CD of Savoy Brown songs, and the ultimate ski song on the is Tell Momma.

Eve 6 - Anytime (since it is played during the awesome opening montage of the move "Out Cold")
and Red Hot Chili Peppers - Snow (for obvious reasons)

I can't believe so many people listens to tunes on mountain

That's what apres is for

who has not heard a lodge band that doesn't play margaritaville

No one ever said anything about listening to these songs while skiing. I only listen to music while skiing when I'm at Wachusett by myself.

Damn you friggin hippies! The one thing I couldn't stand about college in Maine/skiing at Sugarloaf was all the BS jam band crap.

I'll go with something cool like some Fu Manchu, Brant Bjork, Queens Of The Stone Age. Maybe something mellow like Gram Parsons on the ride home.

I don't listen to tunes on the mountain, not that I'm necessarily against it. I just listed a song that makes me think of skiing...

If you like classical music, try Beethoven's Fifth Symphony (1st movement) or his Ninth Symphony (4th movement, Ode to Joy) when you're standing on a summit. It's pretty neat. Not skiing music but they give summiting a whole new meaning.

Zox - Spades from the Meatheads Born from Ice

That is a good one. Meatheads do a great job incorporating lesser-known bands' music into their movies. "Gangsta" by Paranoid Social Club is another favorite ski song of mine due to its use in Born From Ice.

This reminds me of a time I got in a gondola one time with an older man. He was BLASTING his ipod to Total eclipse of the heart, When a man loves a women, and some Air Supply crap.

I got out of the gondola so pumped up from that I was flying off of 20" cliffs my next run.
