It's been a while since I visited Elk. The last time I went there was a parking lot up near the lifts so you didn't have to ride the shuttle.

This is on their webpage now: Passes for the upper lot closest to the slopes are available for purchase at the main lodge.

Is there any free parking (like on a non holiday Monday) that you either don't have to climb the hill or take a shuttle?

Great little mountain. One of my favorites in PA. I've always taken the "wagon" shuttle but seem to remember cars parked not far from the lifts in a smaller lots up close. Shuttle was fast and easy.

If you buy a ticket online you can scan the barcode and print your ticket at a kiosk there by the west side quad/double next to the (free) parking lot without going up to the main lodge

If you ski past whatever time they shut down the west side in the evening you can get stuck taking the shuttle back from the main lodge side unless you duck ropes which is generally not a good idea at Elk

I thought the upper lot was early bird parking? They have a lot closed sigh when it fills up.
I was there earlier this year parked and walk uphill a bit and put my skis on and ski down to the lodge and pick up my ticket.
