Usually done under the cover of darkness. Management frowns on that gun placement.

Maybe I should have said I've never seen the evidence of any snow being blown there despite the guns looking like they planned to use them :)

Granted if it was a real quick coating, might not be overly noticeable.

Ops update including a summary of lift work done this off-season (Slide Brook supposedly fixed and ready to go for those of you that care about that lift).

Thanks for posting. They did way more this offseason than the rumor mill covered. And glad they can pivot to opening off Heavens Gate if that's what mother nature dictates.

Unfortunately it appears the Sugarbush app is no longer - must use Ikon (and I can't find the cams).

I always just used the Youtube app to access the cams from my phone anyway...

And yes, they did a decent amount of work. Which again goes back to lack of communication. The plans for many of those things could have been announced months ago to at least stop rumors that they were doing virtually nothing. None of them really should have been secrets or were things they suddenly decided to do last minute.

There is a lateral pipe set through the woods from Elbow to the Bravo rocks. You need to use jumper hoses but it's fine for a couple guns.

I remember that rumor but could never confirm it. I heard it was to get a loop on CR and Middle Earth. Rumble and LL would stay natural.

I did like the year Hardy dragged guns through the woods from Cliffs to Hammerhead. Put just enough on it to make it skiable longer. Ditto the one gun on the rock garden on Bravo. I doubt we'll se that again, and I know many would be fine with that.
Hammerhead wasn't a Hardy thing, that used to be done every year even before ASC. You can go back and look at old trail maps and they marked Hammerhead as a trail with snowmaking.

RIP, Sandy Macys. I had stayed in touch with him fairly regularly, though I didn't get to see him on his recent visit to Vermont (in his love/hate RV). We worked side by side at the mountain for 4 seasons, '08-'12. Saks and Macys (only missing a Bloomingdales). The Sugarbush and Patrollers' community has lost a good man.

Always enjoyed seeing his photos.

eating at valley house as a blazer was peak. the mac and cheese was soooo good. i left for a year and came back to do mountaineers and eating at gatehouse was lame.
Well for $2k on top of your Ikon, I am sure you can get them again with your Reserve pass. Will eat into a good chunk of the $100 'free' food but hey, it is yummy!

This may be true but if so is it buried? Admit I’ve never come across it and have skied through the woods there more times than I can count.

Given ski patrol’s liberal policy around thin cover openings I’m not sure there is any reason to bother making snow on that section anyway. If the rest of the trail is skiable then there is pretty much always a way down through it. An icy rollover would be less interesting.

I was pretty pleased to read about all the work done in the Ops update. But like you, I'm dismayed by the lack of communication and continue to feel like the SB team is routinely shooting themselves in the foot. Instead of spending the off season looking forward to enjoying all the improvements, we've for the most part spent the off season speculating on negative stuff.

While I do appreciate the Ops update. I would have loved for them to give a description of what was wrong with Slidebrook and what it took to fix it.

I have high hopes for this season and look forward to some glades skiing.
