Last season in Utah was one of the worst years in many years. In fact, until February it was one of the worst in history, then lots of snow that month saved the day. Then it hardly snowed again. All in all, a terrible ski season for Utah, but instructive in that I learned even a horrendous season here felt pretty much like an average Vermont winter.

The season before that was great, tons of boot deep days and continuous no worse than "good" conditions basically all season long.

And the season before that was the best in like 40 years (which of course I missed)
Actually, overall it was about “average.” It just felt
worse because we had two very snowy seasons.

I love this so much.

This poll doesnt really reflect Park City residents feelings about Park City, it reflects their extreme hatred of Vail Resorts. LOL

So I take it that this is a local Park City poll? If so, I think it reflects the local's choices based on terrain, etc. I can see interest in Deer Valley due to the expansion. Alta is because of the snow and, well, it is Alta. Snowbird at third is interesting--but again, it's likely due to terrain, snow, etc. And I agree that this does reflect anger at PCMR and its issues. But listen to Bobby and you will hear that he is definitely on it. ;)

So I take it that this is a local Park City poll?

Correct. And I wish they had a link to all their compiled comments, because the comments in the article they did publish were great.

“Vail is an abomination"
"Corporate greed has ruined much of the vibe and goodwill, and in the process hurt Park City’s economic well-being”
“Vail Resorts sucked the soul out of this place. Jupiter lift is its saving grace.”
“Park City had a rough couple years. Great terrain, but broken lifts, long lines, crowds & lack of crowd management detract from what otherwise would be a great experience.”
“Need to bring the fun back, pay people a living wage, treat them nice, and watch the service and vibe rise.”
“Park City used to be a fun, family resort. They took out night skiing because it didn’t make enough money."
“Keep up the 2024-25 damage control. Firing the CEO was a good start.”

Can you provide a link to the poll?

This and the fact that the people crowding PCMR are not locals, but visitors. The survey was completed by locals. So obviously they are not going to like being crowded out of their home mountain.
I don’t really get the crowding complaints at PC honestly…go to LCC on a weekend pow day to see a real shitshow. Yes the base areas are a clusterf*ck but every popular ski resort is like that now. Plus you can lap 80% of the lifts there on the busiest days of year with near zero wait once you get up the mountain. Most of the people there are tourists which is great because they don’t know how to get anywhere good vs somewhere like Alta/Bird where the majority of the people there know every little pocket and track the place out in 30 mins.
This is coming from someone who has lived in PC for three years and skied ~300 days there by now. I think most of these “locals” are people from California/Texas who moved here and think they own the place now.

1st time I went to PC was 1999, before the 2002 Olympics really put Park City and the entire SLC region on the radar of many in the World... You know what, even back then, the line for the cash registers at the Albertsons in PC during prime shopping time was still 5+ minutes long...

Are there more people there today? Without a doubt!! Are many of the folks, especially in grocery store lines, likely private shoppers or personal chiefs for the BIG $$ home owners who may or may not live there full time vs part time? I am guessing yes. When the World discovers a World Class resort/region, its going to get crowded, and grow... That's just reality, and the "locals", many of whom are transplants who moved there because they loved the area, don't have much of a leg to stand on by complaining about more people discovering the area, as they were once that person who discovered it too!

I bet a powder day at Eagle Point is awesome.

I caught a midweek powder day at Eagle a number of years ago and it was great. I think there were probably 25 cars in the lower lot, and not many more up top. Strange ski area layout there for sure. Powder all day.

I’ll take a stress free experience over terrain quality these days every time but I’m a bit weird and I really dislike crowd scenes.
