One of my favorite things about the summer. Should get some more tonight. I love monitoring the various radars when t-storms are on their way. It's fun to try and predict the time of their arrival and intensity based on the radar. We've been spared up at my house this year for the most part, but the area about 10 miles to the south of me (route 84 corridor through Waterbury) has been getting consistently slammed this season. There was a particularly intense storm that hammered that area on June 5. This is what it looked like from about 10 miles to the North:

  You can keep clouds that size over on your side of the state. Over here by the CT/RI border, the proximity of the ocean and its cooling effects tend to diminish the strength of the storms compared with central/western CT

DynOmite stuff!...........

Verrrrry nice YSD!

Thunderstorms can be pretty violent alright. Had a chance to drive(with lame highway tires on the X) on the golfball-size hail a few years ago....essentially your on solid ice only with the added sensation of being on ice golfballs....pretty wild...especially if you're faced with having to make a 150' gradual turn while on the outer lane..
~150' was all I cared to do...then joined the rest of the crowd pulled over to the side....
