Anticipation can be one of the best parts in the process of getting something. The things themselves may disappoint, but nothing can spoil that sense of excitement just before it arrives.

Or

The anticipation of getting something can make you moody and tense. Time moves too slowly and you become easily agitated while you wait.

So as you anticipate the coming ski season how does the waiting process affect you? Is it sweet anticipation or does it make you anxious.

It’s sweet for me. I’m ready for when it gets here and I can’t make it get here faster.

Excited! Those pics this morning helped me shake of a 5 am wake up call and 2 hour train ride into NYC.

I'm a mix...happy in anticipation of what's to come (and because of the snowmaking pics), but impatient because I'd like to be skiing now, not later.

I see it as two different kinds of anticipation. Right now, and for several months, I've beene excited for the season - reading more about skiing, talking more, paying more attention to weather. But....it's not here yet for me.

The true anticipation that get's my blood flowing is the moment I leave my house for the mountain and that level of anticipation really doesn't change whether it's my first day of the season or the last.

I compare it to going to see a show I have tickets for. Yes, bought the tickets months in advance and I'm excited, but the true excitement/anticipation begins the moment I start heading to the show.

Every year the wait seems longer and longer.

This year it's killing me, and there are still (at least) 3.5 weeks until I'll get out if things go as planned. :-?

There's unhealthier things than anticipation. But not many. Forget about it. Go ride a bike. Let the snowmakers (man and nature) do their work. Plus this season is going to be epic. You'll get plenty.

Considering that we're posting on a ski forum (or forums), I think that may not be possible....

Definitely. What we're going through right now is the annoying kind of anticipation. Too many unknowns this early. The couple of days leading up and especially the night before a defined ski day/trip is the enjoyable kind of anticipation.
