Depending on conditions, do you only concentrate on one aspect of skiing, powder, bumps, trees, park, groomers, backcountry, slackcountry, etc. or do you like to sample from the whole menu?

I’m a menu sampler myself.

I will go anywhere, but I've become driven more by my mood that day and the terrain conditions. My advance age and respect for my joints has made me ratchet back on some of the more risky behavior of my younger days...

I love it all, and ski different stuff throughout the day. Especially since during the day with other people out there the conditions change. I like to get the glades in early when they're least tracked, cruisers around lunchtime when I'm getting tired, and bumps in the afternoon when the sun has softened them and I'm fresh from food.

Of course, my real pleasure is starting out with winding blue bumps that drop into a glade then a big long high-speed runout. :D

Nope, like to do it all, except maybe the park. I'm happy to rip groomers if that's all I got, but I do prefer the bumps pow and trees.

I like to ski interesting terrain. For the most part groomers aren't interesting to me anymore. When skiing at my home mountain I ski the bumps exclusively (usually 3-4 hour or less sessions). That's mostly practice for when I get up north to ski somewhere with good natural terrain.

I let the conditions dictate the skiing. Whatever they are there is usually speed involved. Trees, bumps, hardpack, its all good. Today is going to be a pow day here at iceface. BORRRING

Totally condition and fitness dependent. I basically love it all, but take what the mountain gives me and my legs feel good enough to do on a particular day.

Don't get me wrong, I'll ski groomers all day if that's all that's available. You're not likely to find me on one if there's good stuff on other trails though... Unless it's the first run of the day, as long as I'm not skiing with Greg I like to take a cruiser to warm up... ;)

As said before, interesting terrain.

The problem with groomers is that this is NE and we consistently have this. Even a rich man will grows tire of eating steak all day.

I think everyone likes interesting terrain, but what's interesting for one may not be interesting for someone else and you to didn't say what is interesting to you.

The question is if you have a choice of all will you stick to mainly one thing or try it all.

Unfortunately ONLY groomers and nice fresh ungroomed Pow only now at 64 years old

Too many yrs of pounding my knees and breaking bones in OTHER sports ( football /hoops thru college and afterward with Old guy leagues ) have had an impact

but hey i'm still a happy kid ripping the groomed and luv ungroomed freshies - so i'm good with that !

I've turned into a one trick pony at my home mountain. The only time I venture away from the bumps is for a warm up run or if I am with my wife. When skiing other locations I like to mix it up. Familiarity breeds contempt. If hit a place a few times, Hunter for example, I will start to lap a run with bumps that suit my skill level. All this bumping is a blast and will hopefully set me up to get in the trees more.

Trying to answer HPD's question, if the conditions warrant it, I usually get an OCD concerning not just one trail, but one particular line down a trail.

After doing a little menu sampling, I usually find a particular route that is the best/most fun for me, stick to it for several runs and not change things up just for the sake of change. The line might involve trees, loose snow, bumps, whatever.

This usually annoys the other people I'm skiing with.

under most conditions, yes. all i want is one good bump run and i'll stay there till my legs give out. If its a powder day or close to it, i'll be more inclined to move around a little. its pathetic really.

Okay. On a powder day anything with decent pitch is fun. Also on a powder day, or for a few days after, I like trees. If it hasn't snowed in a while, I head to the bumps.

Interesting terrain to me is a surface that isn't completely flat. Moguls, or ungroomed terrain with many twists, turns, undulations, rocks/small drops, stumps, etc. Groomers can have interesting terrain too. Later in the season when there is a deep base, I love to head over the edge of a groomer down the sides that head towards the woods, then turn back up and pop off the lip onto the groomed terrain. Repeat.

i definately like to mix it up. I try to incorporate as many terrain features as i can into each run. Ramshead at K provides some cool runs: groomers to squeeze play (trees) to timberline (terrain park). 3 different terrain features, one run. Elsewhere on the mountain I can do a bump run, to tree run, to groomer in the same run as well. Speaking of warm-ups, I find the bumps to be the easiest way to warm up. One run on a snowboard through the moguls and I'm ready for anything.
