Damm, I totally forgot about the new DST rule.

I think it should be mentioned here so nobody miss the first chair this Sunday.

I love the new daylight savings time. Like GSS says, better chance at some day light in the evening and also day light for the drive home when further north.

I feel a little mixed about this. In spring, it is often the case it is icy in the morning, loose up later in the day as it warms up. In spring, glades don't get opened unless it is warm enough and egeable. This new rule will delay the warming of mountain by one hour.

Good point...but another way to think of it is that you can sleep in a bit longer now on ski days. :)

Read the first editorial here: http://www.nwanews.com/adg/Editorial/187608/

I am guessing that most places will stay open an hour later on good days... so it should be a wash.

Other benefit of spring is that I don't have to drive like a maniac getting to the slope to get there before it's all tracked out. An hour or more of sunlight turns bulletproof ice into nice edgeable corn.

I now use this event as a planning point when I goto Utah for a week. I plan it so that I fly home the day before (the Saturday) that it kicks in, thus, instead of being a 2 hour time change when I get back home to CT, the next morning when I wake up it's just a net 1 hour change - MUCH easier on the kids this way ;)

Annoyingly, I saw this thread, but didn't think of it- on the flight home last night, they had the moving map with "Time at Destination." We arrived at 7.15 last night, but while standing in line for Immigration we saw 8.15 on the clock. We were thinking "Geez this has been a long line" until the agent said "No, we changed the clocks last night." I guess British Airways didn't get the memo...

I think the whole daylight savings time thing sucks. It's taking an hour of skiing away. Was at Mt. Snow the past three days and things didn't get good until 10:00/11:00. They sure as hell didn't stay open after 4:00. I haven't heard of anyone other than Magic and Ascutney doing it. Just give me 4:30.
And screw the ride home. Get the priorities right.
Anyway the skiing was great at Mt. Snow. Three classic spring skiing days. Got plenty of vertical in. I'm just sayin'.........
Few pics from yesterday, (reposted from Jisch's thread):
Bear Trap (complete with revamped sound system), a couple of the woods, (plenty of cover still in there), and Chute.
