Just read THIS article on WCAX.com saying that the mountain manager stole power for the health center for maybe 8 years or so. Despite this, the mountain will remain in business.

We don't talk much about this place...and I have never been.

I live in LP. National Grid said that the power lines lost 600k in eletricity traveling the lines over to us. Tupper Lake lost 400k . I am guessing when they started looking where they were loosing the power they came across Titus.
Of course that is my opinion and I am probably way off but it makes sense in my little brain.

Damn, I used to go there for night skiing when I was back at SLU. Not going to lie, it was a pretty lame hill, but it seemed well kept enough that they wouldnt have to steal power off the grid.

Yes, as the article said, despite the bad news about the theft, the mountain WILL remain open. I just hope that the mountain is not involved in too much litigation over the matter.

Gah! Better dead than red! :uzi:

But in all seriousness, the Clarkson ski team uses that hill for training, though I've never been. As far as I know, about the next closest ski area to that part of the North Country is either Gore or Tremblant, or something similarly distant. Far enough away, combined with the lack of money to replace my delamed K2s, to keep me off the slopes for 4 years.

Hey, what can you expect from an area where stuff like this happens?

Whiteface is actually the closest hill to the area. Titus is really not that great, plus its in absolutely the middle of nowhere. I should know I lived there for 4 years. Whiteface was always worth the additional 30 minute drive. The lodge was in decent shape, its just pretty suprising that theyd try and pull this off.

Best time I made from Canton was 1:15. I always took 11b, then Id take the shortcut where you took the left by the treefarm before you got to Saranac bypassing LP. Its been about a year so I forget the route numbers but it never took me more than 1:30 or so.
