Since all of Vermont is now in, thought I'd post this here as well. See the full post on K-zone for all the info.

Interesting way of looking at vertical by only stating the greatest amount by lift per area.

Dopey way if you ax me. The WF vert for the gondi only takes into account Little WF. How can you not count vert off the summit just cause you take 2 lifts to get to it? You can get right off the face lift then ski 20 yards to the Summit Quad.

The full pass price at Stowe blows.

This comment comes up a lot. It's just another way of looking at vertical other than the brochure vertical. Sure there are some mountains with staggered lifts close together, but you still have the lift lines. And how far is too far to be counted as skiable vertical? This represents what you can get in one repeatable, uninterupted run. For example at Sugarbush, skiing organ grinder top to bottom is not repeatable without 2 lifts and a blue trail in between. If you want the total vertical listed, most of us know that, its on the brochure, and I don't have space to fit it in the width available.

I would say it's Dopey for places like White Face that truly have massive vertical and report it accurately. Places like Sunday River that skew the numbers to suggest 2350 vert it paints a more accurate picture.

Agreed on the Stowe pass price. Definitely a place reserved for people where money doesn't matter. They've always been high with their pass prices, but even more so now and I'd imagine that will benefit places like Sugarbush or Smuggs, especially northern Vermonters buying passes. Unless you're rich or work at a stowe area business and get that discount, it's out of reach. I'm happy that I'll be skiing there at least one day this winter for $48 through my club. I believe they had an appreciation weekend too for clubs where a two day was around $90, which is pretty darn good.

My impressions looking at this list:

Smuggs is a great bargain
Stowe is just wrong
Bromley is a nice little mountain, but at $995 it is really off more then Stowe compared to what you get for your money
Magic looks like a great deal
If you bought early WF only is the most bang for your buck. Full WF/Gore is also good when you get either mountain any day of the season.

Umm, the Mt Snow pass is NOT the Mt Snow pass, that's the NorEaster pass. And it has *0* blackout days.

The Mt Snow pass is 599$ and 699$ with 11 blackout days.

After rereading it, that tables not arranged very good. LOL.

Thanks for that. Jay Peak may have gone down because there is no more reciprocity with the MSS Resorts...not that it really mattered for most....

Like it or not, they've got their marketing strategy atleast for the next couple of seasons. Frankly, I'd bet the admins there in this current strategy don't look to New England Resorts and their pass prices for comparisons, but more likely a place like Deer Valley where their pass prices are $1525 before Halloween and $1785 after Halloween and an $83 dollar daily ticket.

Stowe is one of the few resorts that's worth the charge..If I lived in Burlington..I'd buy a pass at Stowe..

that goes without saying. but some people don't know the mountain well enough for it to be worth the price. for us we know that the options on mani are far greater than any other place in new england. if someone just rides on the trails and some tree's bush is a great option. but at stowe i spend 85-90% of my time off trail.

....as much as I love Stowe, I still think the price represents one of the worst values out there. Do I think it is worthy of being the most expensive pass out there? yes, but not to the degree that it is.

I know this is an East Coast board but if anyone is planning a trip out West this Year Kirkwood in Lake Tahoe has a 6 day pass for $239

http://www.kirkwood.com/winter/seasonpass.php

and the Vail Epic pass good at Vail, Breckenridge, Keystone, Beaver Creek, A-Basin and Heavenly (in Tahoe) is only $579 and for $439 you get unlimited access to Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin with no restrictions and 10 day at Vail and Beaver Creek with some restriction dates.

They are really good deals if you know for sure you are taking a trip out there. Way cheaper than buying a day passes in season.

Christ, I *wish* we had passes like that around here. But careful, ASC haters will be all over that predicting the total and absolute failure of Vale, BreckenRidge, etc...
