I doubt many serious park riders are impressed. All the serious park rats go to Mt. Snow or Sunday River, and still will....

that stash is for the 1 or 2 trips a year crowd that drool over the burton site. however on a midweek powder day first or second run it would be fresh after that it will be packed but we all know that killington gets no snow and powdr sucks the chalupa so no one will go.

The bigger concern is icing or freeze/thaw, or even just the impact of a little traffic and sun. I'm guessing there will be ice all over the place in short order.

I was thinking the same thing. This sounds like a neat concept, but if you're going to construct specific terrain features, then more than likely there is going to be a "path" that links them. All that continuous skier traffic is going to result in sort of a luge course.

The concept is very cool, and I'll certainly check it out after a dump for a run. However, I have my doubts that the snow surface will hold up well, even if they somehow made snow there, especially considering the likely high numbers of people that don't really belong in it. Also, the location is somewhat questionable, because of the layout changes it's causing.

If it works, it'll be nice.

I think it's great that they're at least doing something instead of absolutely nothing for almost 10 years. I don't agree with everything they've done, but this and the new lift are a big positive. As for the trailwork, we'll see if it's a positive. On paper it looks like a good idea. Also, there's no way in hell I'm going anywhere near the Stash on a Saturday! :-o I'll wait for midweek...

If you want the "stash" to remain interesting, it doesn't need a "line" to follow through the woods... It needs modules and stuff scattered on the area... that way, every run you hit is a bit different... and it takes a couple of runs to discover all the hidden secrets in these woods.

A bit like a new glade... it takes time to figure out your line...

Also, they should think about progression. This might be the new things that will prevent all the injuries you get from the big launch ramp onto ice from the snowpark... Make small jumps in the woods between the thight trees... That will reduce amplitude and keep the riders focussed instead of a big open trail with concrete jumps all over that every gappers just slides on and off...

It's not like they are taking a fully natural glade and setting up a few jibs, jumps and drops. They are actually cutting narrow trails though what was already a natural glade, there will be paths to follow to get to the jibs.

Killington already has several very high traffic glades....pretty much all of them are actually, but in particular Snowdon and Big Dipper get tons of traffic and bump up rather quickly. It will be interesting to see what happens with the stash. Will it ice up before it bumps up? Will they try to knock down the bumps in the paths? Its tough to say. It doesn't really get icy in Killington's normal glades, or when it does, they close them.

I think that the stash is for certain going to see an immense amount of traffic. It is easily accessable by all 3 skye peak lifts plus the K-1....all those lifts together total roughly 10,000 rides per hour. It is on the major route down into Bear Mountain, so it will be attractive for people to ski through on their way down there. On a busy day, there's the potential for upwards of 10,000 people through there per day, with a peak traffic off 2,000 people per hour.....or one person every 2 seconds. Ouch.

I got my Transworld snowboarding today and this year they set aside an east coast top ten parks/pipes. Loon, Okemo, Snow, Sunday River, Mont Tremblant and Big Boulder PA all made an appearance. Really, Killington isnt on the radar yet for having top quality parks and they were hoping this would help.

Other mountains like Mount Snow and Mountain Creek are pushing even harder with dedicated park mountains.

to be more constructive, i'm pretty excited to see what thats all about as well as the new tree run off of vertigo. New to the map anyway. I've seen people duck off into those woods so many times but i've never tried it myself.

that run's been around. I believe that locals call it "The Light"...don't know why, but I was skiing in a group with a Killington instructor and that's what he called it. We lapped that thing all day long.
