Trip Report:
A very solid day at Mt. Snow yesterday. The big story was the cold....it was cold kids...cold! It wouldn't have been bad in the morning, but that wind was pretty cutting. We were on the hill by 8:30-8:45. Ended up hitting Sunbrook which has become our regular Sunday AM spot. Cloud Nine to Thanks Walt is an awesome run that time of day. The sun is brightly shining, the trail is groomed and fast and there's no one there. It's about as good as it get IMHO. A great way to get warmed up and start the day.
We ended up hitting the summit lodge around 10:15 just to warm up a bit. It was crowded, but we found a table. After that, we did a few more run on Sunbrook, then hit Carinthia. Lunch was a bit crowded to the cold and the Cub Scouts that commendeared a good number of tables in the Sundance lodge. If they were going to take over 3+ tables just to set up their buffet, they should have at least offered me some.
The afternoon was awesome. The wind had died down, the temps had moderated to a balmy 10-12F and everyone went home. The trails were in pretty good shape too. There were a few scratchy spots, but over all. great conditions. Snowdance was wonderful. One more time was scratchy, but was fun because off the rolling terrain and fast snow. Canyon had a little scratch on it, but the sides of Standard were nice.
Carinthia was in really good shape in the AM. The mini pipe on Mineshaft was nice and the features were as well. As far as Sunbrook goes, Cloudnine and Thanks Walk were great. Big and Little Dipper were a bit scratchy and you had to watch for patches. But those are natural trails, so that's expected.
I took some video today, but vimeo isn't agreeing with me; my uploads keep freezing at a certain point in the process. :-x :-x :-x :-x
