wondering if the Handle to Haystack route is paved all the way. I remember 15 years ago there was a section that wasn't... has it changed?

Yup 2 point something miles of glorious VT asphalt between the 2, and atleast as of last weekend, the frost heaves/pot holes aren't too bad ;)

Thanks drjeff... was it Mann that had the dirt section?

No problem. The only dirt you'll encounter these days between the two(aside from DOT spread sand;)) will be in the immediate base area parking lot @ Mount Snow and then all the way up the Haystack entrance road, shortly paste where the lower mountain lodge used to be

my fault... I should have explained it better... there's an alternate way to get from the mountain to route 9... Handle/Coldbrook Rd. to Mann Rd. to Haystack Rd... it's around 6 miles... 15 years ago there was unpaved section along this route... I wanted to know if it's still dirt or not.
