I would agree that Whiteface makes a lot of what seems like silly operational decisions from an outside POV, like which lifts to run or trails to open on a given day, or where they decide to make snow, but I never had a problem with whales Whiteface or otherwise. Other than one time at Blue Knob I face planted with the old tele skis on a sticky whale under active snow guns blowing a piles between the bottom of Extrovert and the runout with no way around - I guess they figured if you can ski Extrovert you should be apt enough not to get stuck on the whales...
