Clicked in at 11:30. Mostly cloudy skies. Surface was firm but edgable. Stinger was roped off. It looked like a bomb exploded. There were enormous piles of death cookies ranging in size from actual cookies to a suitcase or steamer trunk. They were using one of the pieces of heavy machinery to moves 4 or 5 rails while the new PB groomed things out. I skied from 11:30 until 3:15 and they were working on Stinger the entire time. Very interesting to watch them work. Temptor was roped off the entire day as well.

I skied everything on the mountain today. NE bumps were a mess. Canyon and NE were fun. I picked along the sides of the trail for some softer snow. Stinger was nice. Ex bumps were rutted up with last nights tracks. I didn't even want to bother with them. I did 10 runs by 1:30 and took a break just as the sun was coming out. After my 15 minute break the sun was bright and softening things up a bit. I did 10 more runs after my break and hit the Ex bump every time. They soften up just enough and were fun as hell. I am spent. 20 runs in less than 4 hours with the last 10 runs bee-lining for the Ex bumps. I almost called it quits until I saw the sun starting to emerge. I am glad I stayed.

Glad it turned out to be a good day for ya Chris. Too bad Temptor was closed, I imagine it must have been rather firm in there..

Not surprised Temptor was roped. That shit was wet yesterday so it's probably rock hard now. I have to imagine we're entering the tail end of the snow making season so we need to start selecting days carefully. Barring any snow storms, gotta take advantage of any warm days and rain.

I was wondering about the snow making... How will they seed bumps on Gunny with no new snow? Push around the existing whales? I skied Gunny twice today. I'm trying to get a better feel for the trail. I rarely ski it.

After reading Greg's report from last night about hitting the whales on Canyon/Ex I did the same. Most of my runs were top to bottom. While doing that I would be sure to pop off and get some air on all those whales. I started to catch more air and feel more comfortable doing so after a few runs.

I would imagine they would still topcoat Gunny bumps, or if it's warm and sunny, they'll soften up and fall apart on their own. Either way, I can't friggin' wait.

I'm really interested and psyched to ski some steeper bumps. I hugged the right side of Gunny both runs to get a feel for the pitch and prep for Gunny bumps. I think the rest of the vacation days I take this winter will be to ski a bumped up Gunny.

i think there is a skier/boarder cross comp this weekend on stinger, probably getting set for that.

That's what I was thinking. I was hoping they would drop the rope on Stinger while I was there. All that fresh cord and nobody to ski it. That jump at the end of Stinger is getting HUGE.
