Very First time posting here!

Skiied Windham Mountain today (Saturday 1-31-09). Normally I ski on weekdays when it's not as crowded, However since this was my first time skiing on a weekend this year, I figure I would give it a try and see how it would go.

So, I got to the mountain at around 7:30AM (my lift ticket was free because my dad and stepmom won it at a silent auction).I was waiting in front of the lift waiting them to drop the ropes and open, And for the second time this year I GOT FIRST CHAIR LIFT!!!.. When i got to the top, i ventured on over to Upper Wolverine as my first run(double Black), and the first thing I noticed was the gromming was TERRIBLE!!.....however i did enjoy myself. My second run was The Wall a Double Black (it sould just be rated as a single black). This run was not grommed, and we got 1-3'' of fresh snow on the ground from the night before. So as I'm skiing it, Guess what was burried under the powder??? YUP!! You Guessed it!! A GIANT SHEET OF ICE!!!!. I then made my way to the East Peak where there were no lines :) Now im starting to think that today wouldn't be crowded! I made my way down the Why Not(Black Diamond) before they closed it for races that day. I went up the east peak lift 2 more times and went down Wingin' it, and Wonderfully Wicked (bolth Blacks). I did wipedout on wicked, but hey, it was powder that i landed on :).

Ok, NOW for the turn-around point of my day. I went back down to the main lift, and the line was LONG!. The wait in line was about 5 minutes. After getting off the lift at the top, i went to upper wolveriene, and then went over to the wheelchair lift. I stayed on the Wheelchair lift for most of the day, and upper wheelchair was a great run. Not to bumpy, but icy in some parts. Wedel was nice and smooth at the top, but the steep middle section was, of course, ICEEEEEEEE:(. Upper wipeout was a very nice powdery run, however it does require you to hike over to it which is tough. I went into the lodge around 12:00 and it was over-crowded. took like 20 minutes to find a place to sit.

After lunch, me and my step mom went out for a run. When we got to the main lift, IT WAS DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!! so we went up the C lift and did the warm up park. As she went back inside the lodge with her 2 kids, i went up the wheelchair lift and did my last 2 runs from there. Upper wheelchair was all skiied off at this point, but there were still some powdery spots that i was trying hit instead of the ice. MY last run was upper Wolveriene which was all skiied off as well.

By the time i got to the bottom, the main lift was still down, so we decided to call it a day.
If Anyone wants my advice, DON'T GO NEAR THIS PLACE ON WEEKENDS. I will be headed back down there monday, 2-2-09. hopfully it wont be as crowded :)

Thanks, you made me feel better. I was trying to decide between Windham (haven't been there in 4 or 5 years) and Plattekill today. In the end I decided on Plattekill, guess it was a good choice. Now be a good kid, go over to the new member thread and introduce yourself :) .

Belleayre was a 9 out of 10 today.

I don't wanna go there, but I am skiing Windham next Sunday for the first time because my daughter is racing there. I will be sure to sharpen our skis extensively.

how was it ?

Actually, not bad. My problem is that my wife is still working her way back from a broken ankle so she doesn't want to do anything but the easier trails for now. Kind of tough doing Plattekill if you can't hit the tougher terrain, and no, I'm not about to abandon her.

You need to ski with a group where some people can ski with your wife and you can rip with others.....
