Conditions: Bluebird sky, light winds, temps in the upper teens/low 20's, mainly a machine groomed/ packed powder surface where I was skiing
Report: I was lazy this AM if for no other reason then my daughter wanted to ski with me in the afternoon. So I figured I'd take the morning off and let the March sun work on the thermometer which started the day off in the low single digits. I hit the hill about 12:30 after scoring a 2nd row parking space and was ready for a fun afternoon of skiing with my 5 year old daughter, which for her meant Carinthia as the instructors for Snow Camp aren't supposed to take classes over there.
Up to the top and then Long John/Deer Run (still some untouched cord on the sides since it wasn't crowded at all today). The Mineshaft where my daughter got her 1st run through the mini pipe as I was having Euler wipeout broken collarbone thoughts while following her
she had a blast! Then propsector to lower titanium watching her hit the edges/sides of the jumps. Back up Nitro for another run down Mineshaft via the mini pipe to prospector to Iron Run as she wanted now to go through the Superpipe. Lower Iron run was closed, so we bailed onto lower Nitro just as chair #50 (the golden chair as just about any kid in any Mount Snow ski program will tell you) was headed down. So my daughter decides that we NEED to get that chair and she takes off in BIG, CONTROLLED GS arcs down lower Nitro(me grinning ear to ear as I was having to actually ski pretty well to keep up with her!) well thanks to a 3some of cigarette puffing, swearing boarders moving like molasses through the final loading area we ended up on chair #51
Back up, and once again Mineshaft via the mini pipe to Propsector to Iron Run and this time onto Inferno briefly and into the Superpipe. She had a blast getting maybe 3 or 4 feet up the walls, and I will say that after skiing through it that it's an impressive site seeing 18 or so foot walls from the tranny! A quick snack in the lodge and then me and her were off to hike Grommet 2 times since they don't spin the Ski Baba lift mid week. After those hikes, back up Nitro and over to the main base area for a few laps off Canyon Quad. One More Time to The Boonies where the kid was getting pretty darned close to actually charging the trees at close to my speed
then back up for Upper Overbrook and it's ice bumps to a really sweet Overbrook and then one more lap down Overbrook headwall to Canyon to Illusion. Finished the day off for the 1st time with my entire family skiing a lift served run as my wife had my 3 year old son taking his first ride up the Discovery Chair and via a leash his first on ski run down Launch Pad!
A very good afternoon on the today!
