Nass RAW - 5/26

Saw a new trail on Johnnycake I'd like to incorporate into a ride. Anyone interested?

Possible, the only draw back is that is really sucks getting from Hartfrod to Nass after work. Rt4 is very slow moving after you get off 84. Unless I can find a better way to get to Nass from Hartford I may not be doing many RAW's at Nass this season.

How about: 84 to exit 38 Route 6 to right onto Stafford Ave to left onto Stevens St to right onto Jerome Ave to left onto S Main St to right onto Main St. You can take a right from there onto Stone Road, or continue onto Reservoir Rd to Rt 69 and get to Scoville (though if you're going directly to Scoville, you might want to turn left onto Shrub Rd off of Jerome (almost immediately), which will bring you to Rt 69).

Route 6 can be hit or miss, but I've never seen it be as bad as Route 4 during rush hour. There's a lot of lights on 6, but you get off of it before you too many of them the way that Carrie suggests. Also, most of 6 is two lanes.

If heading to Stone then you may even want to turn off of 6, earlier, onto 177 and take that down to a left onto Burlington Rd to George Washington Turnpike (straightish) to Stone.

When you get off on 4 do you follow that all the way into Burlington? If so there may be some alternative routes from there that could save some time. Unfortunately nothing will get you away from the major bottleneck of two lanes merging into one at the end of the exit. You could try taking a left onto High St at the sharp corner right before the first light, take that to the end and turn right onto Mountain Rd, go down to the end of that and take a left on to Route 10 (if taking a left onto High St is too much of a pain you can go down to the light and take a left onto 10, but 10 can be pretty congested in that area too). Once on 10 from Mountain road you take a left at a light onto Meadow Rd (I think it's the first light, if you turn too early and end up on Garden st it's no biggie, just take it to Meadow).

If you're going to Scoville then stay on Meadow, note that it turns off to the left at kind of a Y in the middle of the flats (there's a produce stand or something there), eventually it turns into Morea Rd (when you cross 177) and then Stevens St, you'll cross Stafford at a light and then you follow Carrie's directions (Stevens to the end, right onto Jerome, left onto Shrub (almost immediately) to the end, right onto 69 to Scoville.

If you're heading to Stone then stay straight on Red Oak Hill Rd when Meadow turns off to the left, that turns into Coper Mine Rd, turn right onto West District Rd, which will come to Route 177, cross that onto Burlington Rd, to G. W. Turnpike, to Stone. If you miss West District you can stay on Copper Mine until you hit 177 and turn right.

It sounds confusing, but it's really not, it's pretty straight forward. Now my disclaimer, I haven't spent a ton of time in that area of route 4 during the after work rush, but when I have the Meadow road options have always been traffic free. Once you get off Route 10 there are only 1 or 2 traffic lights.

I'm probably going to do a ride out of Scoville tonight around 6 since there is a good chance for showers the rest of the week.
