Considering I live in NJ, this is the best thing I've seen in a long time.

They were saying this last week as well. Wet summers = snowy winters. I don't know. I can say that for the most part 2007-2008 rocked, as did 2000-2001. But this past season was great in December and part of February, but sucked the rest of the time.

March was one of the worst in a few...had a lot of promise in the beginning then fizzled out.

While I wouldn't mind a colder, snowier winter than normal, I'd like to just have a "typical" winter without stuff like 70 degree temps in January or ice storms in December. Also keep the r**n away from mid-November through the end of March...

I should tell my wife I need a snowmobile because of all the potential snow this winter. ;-)

This one says the just opposite for PA and the Mid Atlantic region, but goes further out than only this coming year:

Summary:
Climate study predicts hotter weather, less snow

Full Report: 350 pages.

Some quotes:
The changes will produce "winners and losers" across the state and complex consequences, said ... blah blah blah co-author of the report.

For example, the warmer temperatures will lead to a growing season that is three to five weeks longer and increase the yield of crops like corn and soybeans. But they will also lead to a decrease in the yield of cool-temperature adapted fruits and vegetables like apples and potatoes.

He said winter sports that depend on snow -- snowshoeing, snowmobiling, skiing -- will be "greatly diminished," and hotter weather will reduce the number of stream miles that can support brook trout and other wild trout populations.

That looks great. That kind of storm track means the masses can't get up to Vermont from metro-NYC to trash the skiing surface. Whenever it snows in Dirty Jersey on a Friday, the mountain is delightfully empty on Saturday.

I'm also looking at the western projected storm track. Albuquerque and Ski Santa Fe may be in the cards.
