That looks great. That kind of storm track means the masses can't get up to Vermont from metro-NYC to trash the skiing surface. Whenever it snows in Dirty Jersey on a Friday, the mountain is delightfully empty on Saturday.

.

Whats your home mountain? Be glad to muck up the bottom half for ya :flame:

I'm also looking at the western projected storm track. Albuquerque and Ski Santa Fe may be in the cards.

Sounds like somebody maybe movin to New Mexico soon:lol: Not much salt water nearby though!

Nope. Though I have considered Santa Fe as a winter retirement ski spot. The high season is in the summer so I could rent my place and do the salt water/boat thing. I really like Ski Santa Fe and the town is way better than a typical ski resort town.

I could see living there in the winter with the nice weather in town. The ski area is also a great gem in my book along with a couple others in northern N.M. I'm pretty sure you can find some good bargains in the area also.

Being so far south, is their season "short"? No more early November to May! I realize they are at a fairly high base elevation.

More like thanksgiving until late April but the mountain will close with a big base. Most areas in NM get plenty of snow-not like utah-but plenty. Taos can get big dumps on a SW flow. That same flow unleashes silly amounts of snow on Wolf Creek (very close to Taos as a bird would fly). SW seem to come early season (just my observation) and build the base up. They do have fickle years but so doesn't everyone.

If that forecast holds I want more Taos next year.

NYC is flat..and there aren't any lifts except that Tram..lame

Whenever I'm flying in the mid-west in the winter and I see all the snow I always think what a waste all that snow is because it's sooooooo flat out there. BTW I really like that map and I'll just fantasize that it will be absolutely right.

since accuweather is a pay site it's in their interest to hypecast. I would give this winter forecast no more chance of verifying vs. the farmer's alminac

I don’t really see hypecasting in this long range forecast–usually the alarmism comes in those short term severe weather warnings. It only stands to reason that if current weather currents continue, we’re in for a colder winter. (Precipitation is another story however, with El Nino lurking out there, so who knows.) June was the third coolest on record and July is tracking to be the second coolest–so far we’ve had a “year without a summer.” Not very scientific, but it's still a nice daydream.

El Nino has historically had little to no impact on weather in the Northeast. In El Nino years, it's just as random as non-El Nino years.

In July we had low temperatures in the 50s..14 days...and it didn't hit 90 once..what a bonus..it's supposed to hit 87 today with a realfeel of 97..
