Here it is, July 20th... The snow is gone from tucks, it's a ways away still to late october and november when we can make some first turns. Anyway, last week I was in NY and NJ for some family related stuff, and as I was driving by Xanadu, I was thinking... Shit, if it was open I would so hit it!

So here is the proverbial ... If Xanadu was open, would you be going there to hit some sweet mid-july man-made snow?

If I happened to be in the area for some other reason, I'd definitely toss my gear in the car to check it out for a couple of hours. There is no way I would drive 250 miles just to ski that terrain.

Coming down a scant slope in a tin shed tucked between Rt 3 and Rt 21 in the Meadowlands is not what I'd consider skiing. Count me out.

Hell yeah! :daffy: It's only a 20 minute drive from my home or office. I could even run up for a short session my my lunch break.

It'd be killer on a Saturday to get up and make some turns in the morning, then go hit the pool/water slides after lunch!

In theory I would, but I'm sure the price of admission will be ridiculous.

I think I'd do it for under $50, which means I probably won't ever get a chance.

If that place ever opens, I will absolutely be hopping on the bus at least once a month over the summer and making some turns. The whole experience would have to be unbelievably crappy for me never to go back. If they have weeknight race leagues it would pretty much be the best thing ever, in my opinion.

It would almost be worth it just to see the looks I get hauling my skis around in July/August.

I probably would give it a try, but I'm not exactly jonesing for snow just yet. Might actually be more fun for me in September/October when the jones really starts to kick in.

If something like that were close to me and had racing I would definitely do it. Otherwise Geoffs statement stands.

without a doubt i'd give it a shot. It would probably get boring in about 30 minutes but skiing a small slope in july beats not skiing at all.

Would I drive 4 hours to go there? No.

If I lived close enough I'd do it at least once during the summer for the novelty.

If I lived close enough and if it wasn't too expensive, I'd consider going once or twice in the fall just to get my ski legs before the start of the season.

This, except I'd only give it a try if the price wasn't too high. I'm sure that it'll be expensive, that's what would probably keep me from going.

I would definitely hit it up..I guess it is about an hour and change north of me.

If they set up a nice park, it would be worth it. The only thing that might be too much is all the North Jersey punks a la Mountain Creek.

Ha ha. It'd be fun to see the jib-honks from PA vs the punks from NJ

Probably not, but only because of the distance. If it were under 2 hours from me and remotely affordable, I would probably hit it somewhat regularly. 3 hours, I would at least give it a shot. ME to NJ for a short slope though, probably wouldn't happen.

Might hit it up once a month, maybe twice in October, if I lived close by, just to keep the ski legs going. Although I'm not sure how much value there is in that anyways, given the quality of the snow surface in November. Not like I need to be able to ski 30 degree bumps or hit 20 foot booters until January anyways.
